Guido Basso has died

The fine Canadian trumpet and flugelhorn player died this morning.

I am glad to have had the opportunity to hear his playing live a number of times times.

R.I.P. Guido Basso was an exceptionally fine player who I also had the chance to hear live several times.  He didn't record a lot under his own name, (he was well featured with the Boss Brass), but there are a couple of recordings he co-led with altoist Dave Turner and this one which I will listen to soon.
