wesbed Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 I've been purchasing several of the Fantasy K2s in recent weeks. From what I've noticed, all (or most) of them say they are limited to 10,000 copies. Considering that some of the K2 titles have been around for a few years. Considering their wide distribution in many major retail stores. And, that certain of the K2 releases are major jazz names (Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk). I wonder how well the K2s sell? Have any of the K2 reissues actually gone out of print? Does the 'limit of 10,000' really mean anything? Quote
Claude Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 (edited) K2s are not distributed by the european Fantasy license holder ZYX, they are very hard to find in Europe. So I guess sales in Europe are almost zero, especially since most of the K2 titles are also available in ZYX-style "20Bit"-remastering and sell much cheaper ($8-10) Edited April 30, 2004 by Claude Quote
robviti Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Does the 'limit of 10,000' really mean anything? i'd guess the answer is "not much" given current sales figures of jazz titles in this country. Quote
Dave James Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Nothing against Fantasy, I love the way their catalog remains in print and available, but at the same time, have you ever seen any of their "Limited Edition" series CD's go OOP? Don't think there's much to worry about with regard to the K-2's. Up over and out. Quote
RDK Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 They're limited to less than the most that can be made... Quote
