Swinger Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Are there any significant sonical improvements in the 2002 reissue of In A Silent Way compared to early 1990s release? I'm just wondering should I upgrade my old cd or not... Quote
John B Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 I would say yes. I would also recommend picking up the complete IASW sessions set if you can find it at a good price. Quote
robviti Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 the sonic improvements are definately worth the purchase of the 2002 single reissue. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Can't comment on the sound quality issues, but I would also say that getting the IASW box would be well worth your while. The "previously unreleased" material is quite good (IMHO) -- and more interesting (for instance) than many of the previously unreleased tracks from the Complete Bitches Brew box. The two tracks I'm thinking of, in particular, are "The Ghetto Walk" and "Early Minor", which are both very cool. B) (And collectively, these two tracks alone are as long (time-wise) as the entire original IASW album. And how it is that they've never been released before now, is kind of surprising - if you ask me.) Also, the original material related to the IASW album specifically (full takes, and alternates) is quite interesting to hear in its full context. You might want to check out the AMG review of this set, which is pretty detailed: CLICK HERE. -- Rooster T. Quote
