Max Roach and the Notorious B.I.G.!?

Just  listening to an interview on KCRW with guys who made a new documentary about Biggie and they start talking about how he based his rhythms on Max Roach's drumming.  It wasn't clear to me whether this is discussed in the film but they went on about it a lot in the interview.
