Posted 18 Sep 2021 The wonderful live music bar in New York City, the 55 Bar, is in danger of closing. Here is their GoFundMe campaign. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-keep-the-55-bar-alive Adored by patrons and musicians alike, 55 Bar is utterly unique in the New York City music scene; an unfussy, inexpensive, dive bar where audiences can watch some of the world’s best jazz and blues musicians from ten feet away. It’s a club where brilliant newcomers can launch their careers and seasoned professionals can workshop new compositions before going out on the road. Regulars include Mike Stern, Leni Stern, Wayne Krantz, David Binney, Adam Rogers, Henry Hey, Keith Carlock, Tim Lefebvre, KJ Denhert, Sweet Georgia Brown, Tessa Souter, Kendra Shank, Ayana Lowe, Duchess, Thana Alexa, Nicole Zuraitis, Ben Monder, Jim Ridl, Jim Campilongo and many, many more. Now, in an all too familiar story, this iconic venue is in danger of closing; however... 55 Bar is savable. The numbers are perhaps too big for the 55 Bar to handle alone, but completely achievable through a wider effort. To that end, we appreciate any and all donations and thank you kindly for reading, for sharing, and for your support over the years. We are all excited to continue the dream of supporting and keeping accessible...great music and incredibly talented musicians!

Posted 27 May That was a fantastic live music venue, a comfortable dive bar with great sound and a reasonable cover charge.
Posted 25 June A tragic loss. This was a wonderful little hole in the wall to go listen to jazz, and drink beer.
