Brilliant answer to Moving Pictures! Unlike the records that followed 2112, which got more and more multi-layered and complex, which I really like (love Hemispheres and Farewell to Kings) Signals was not an attempt to "how do you top that?" I think that's what I really like about this album. It is not a follow-up to Moving Pictures.
I have the UMS edition, can you tell us "Stange Strings" fans if the expanded version is worth the upgrade?

Have been really enjoying this box set. I think I read somewhere that if Paul Desmond recorded a solo record that he was not allowed under contract to record with another pianist? Cool with me. Jim Hall is fantabulous on these sides.
A good portion of that set is unlistenable due to poor bootleg audio quality (it was a copyright protection set), but it tends to be very inexpensive for its size. Do go for an expanded Cutting Edge set (I have the six-CD version).
