Vale great Capitol producer Ken Nelson dead at 96...although mostly known as a country produce he was responsible for the likes of Stan Freberg, Les Paul. Gene Vincent and even the Beach Boys joining Capitol Records and helped Capitol Records attain the great sound which is the hallmark of Capitol Records and arguably Capitol recordings of the early 50s sound better than those of any other label of the time. The Japanese seemingly have a knack of getting better reproduction from masters. These were purchased from a former EMI Australia manager and are all new though some are not sealed. In the list below not sealed cds are denoted *. There are also quite a few sample or promo copies which have a sticker on the back (P). These stickers measure approx. 1” x ½” but are easily removed if peeled slowly. A small amount of steam gets it off even easier. They also have sample written around the centre of the cd in English or Japanese but in all other respects are the same as a normal cd. I am sorry is this seems like spamming but I have taken on a task that may be a little beyond me, I am selling a consignment of around 350 mini lp papersleeve Japanese reissues, 99% of which are now out of print. The have a 2500Yen list and are all new; some are promo copies which came from a former manager of EMI Australia. I started out selling on Ebay with a mixed degree of success but with Ebay the fees and all such any margin out of the thing (at this point in tiem I would like to say anybody who does Ebay on a full time basis have my unreserved admiration). If it is not etiquette in this forum to ask if anyone would like a list of what I have then I apologise. These look and sound great. Prices $US15 and up. There is a good listing of Chet Baker Japanese reissues on Ebay at the moment including the 20 track edition of "Chet Baker Sings" which has a $15 reserve...seems reasonable for a sealed copy.
