While I was away in deepest France these last days and out of a really workable internet connection, I was lurking at the Board off and on but could not easily open the images, I noticed that many of the entries in this thread carried the signature identification of the person that we were supposed to identify!
yes, i've brought up that problem in the past!!
Yes, this thread requires the use of the honor system.
There must be a way to delete the identifying markers. Perhaps saving the image onto one's computer and then changing the name of the file?

Now there was a guy who always delivered, because he always understood.
RIP, and gracias beaucoup.
An important contributor to the classic sound of New Orleans R&B.
RIP

I know it's been posted as such on several websites, but...I need to see an original yearbook before conceding. I just don't see any resemblance, even a distant one.
But if it really is her, she was cute as a bug, a lot more so than what she came to look like. In my opinion, of course.
I agree - she looks freaky and bizarre to me nowadays. Must have had an awful lot of work done!

Am I wrong, or did Handy do one other album for Roulette besides these two?
a. From Bird - 5:50 (John Handy)
b. Blues For M.F. - 7:27 (John Handy)
c. East Of The Sun - 7:54 (Brooks Bowman)
d. No Smiles Please - 6:52 (John Handy)
e. Strugglin' - 6:23 (John Handy)
f. Afternoon Outing - 6:46 (John Handy)
John Handy (as), Walter Bishop, Jr. (p), Julian Euell (b), Edgar Bateman (d)
Recorded in New York City, 1962
All titles on Roulette LP 12": R 52121 — "Jazz"
The album was not released until around 1966 when Handy had hit big with the Monterey album. The cover shows a hat like the one he is wearing on the Monterey cover. All three of these, especially "No Coast", are nice sessions, well worth owning.

I'll be shocked if anyone gets this one:
My co-worker tells me it's Pamela Anderson.
-
Correct, Jack! I'm a little surprised that you got that one, as her mouth looks different to me.
Recognized her right away.
-
This one isn't obvious.
Barbara Eden

Try this one:
It looks like a young Hume Cronyn.

Vera Miles?

Robert Q. Lewis
Ben Alexander?

Just recently have been enjoying the 3 volumes of Lieber-Stoller songs in the Ace songwriters' series. A great loss of a tremendous talent.

Noj beat me to the Betty Page answer...
Oliver Reed?

I never understood why they didn't ask Hank what the tune was.
A logical question, to be sure. My recollection is that the track was first issued in the early 1980's as a bonus 12" single in Japan, and that's when it was titled. When the session was issued on CD a few years later, the track was added, and nobody thought to investigate.

OK, that one was too easy. You won't believe this one.
Jane Pauley?

See if you know this one.
Chevy Chase. I got scooped on too many others to pass this one up!

I never bothered to get the RVG remaster of this session. But I noticed today that the 6th track on the remaster is different than what I have on my CD.
My copy has Alison's Uncle as the 6th track, while the RVG has Bangoon as the 6th track. Now I will have to get the RVG so I can have this track. Anyone know why the switch?
I believe thay are the same track. When the track was discovered in the vaults, no one knew the title, so they dubbed it "Alison's Uncle". Alison is Nat's daugher, and Cannonball would have been her uncle. Later it was discovered that the real title of the track is "Bangoon".

Here's someone.
Can it be Gerald Wilson?

Anyone who isn't sure is welcome to guess post #286 since Chuck didn't give it away.
Hint for post #290: He was an early bebopper.
#286, for those unfamilar with Little Esther's employment history, is Johnny Otis.

Great!
Congratulations - you see, there is some good in this world.
-
Correct, Jack and Paul! It's Lavern Baker.
That photo has been used on some CDs, so I figured that Jack would have come across it and would recognize it.
Either that, or I'm just an old geezer!
-
This is a hard one for most of us.
Lavern Baker.
(I knew Ballard, but didn't get up in time)
-
OK, try this lady! The old timers ought to get this.
This is perhaps a more famous photo, though less famous haircut, of the same lady.
I believe that is Lana Cantrell. A young hopeful with several LP's on RCA in the 1960's.

Who?
Thorson had the unenviable task of replacing Diana Rigg on The Avengers in 1968. Her character's name was Tara King.
