  1. I don't understand why these never played perfect condition extremely low number OOP vinyl sets weren't sold by him already before they went out of print? Did the license presumably run out and it was a time issue rather than the number of sets running out? You can praise him for being the best seller on ebay and all, but isn't this kind of sketchy to have held on to these and auction them at ebay years later? I suppose he could have actually bought them himself in the first place, but he didn't even play them...

  2. Thanks John L and zanones for your help. The confusion on my part was between the iTunes Music folder and the iTunes Library file. I thought just setting the Music folder as the destination would be enough. Clearly not. The solution is to press the option key while opening iTunes ( on a Mac ). and choosing library, ie choosing the iTunes Library file. It's a bit annoying when it tries to load up all the artwork thumbnails but hopefully that's a one-off.

    Thanks again.

No problem. Yeah, when my iTunes tries to upload all the artwork, I just close it by hitting the "x" next to where it says it is uploading it to stop it from doing so and taking forever.

  3. My external hard drive is sometimes finicky. I have to keep plugging it into the USB port on my laptop until it shows up. Make sure on My Computer on your laptop that it has shown up, then you may want to try playing a song by going into its folder on your external hard drive just to make sure it does work. If that works, then you should be able to just "add folder" from your ITunes too. If not, I'm not sure why it wouldn't work.

  4. My neigborhood gets an 89. Frankly, I'd rate it in the 90's. Add a much-needed bookstore, some large trees, and re-open the Alexandria Theater and I'd rate it 99.

Alexandria Theater--wow, you live close to me. I'm right through the park in the Sunset. You are still walking distance to Green Apple Bookstore--one of my favorites! And for big trees, you have Golden Gate Park of course. I agree that it could rank higher...

  5. I think Sonny and Charlie and Griffin did Monk just fine.

Yes, of course they did. Very fine they did. Perhaps he wanted it. But none of them was rhythmically as close to Monk as Frankie Dunlop was, as far as rhythmic conception is concerned. Just me, of course.

I thought we were talking about horn players?

And in terms of drummers, I'd say that Art Blakey played best with Monk. Maybe because he started out as a pianist...

  6. Yeah, she's like an entirely different person from when I saw her earlier this year. She was adorable! The funny thing is she was more "lively" in person at her current age, kicking around under the piano like Monk and playing up a storm on "Un Poco Loco."
