  1. Scolohofo's "Oh!" is coming out as a Tone Poet on January 6th. Joyful Encounter was recorded live to two-track analog tape.
  2. Always a joy to pull this one off the shelf.
  3. I listened to the Kenny Burrell again this morning. I'm not an audiophile but it sounds good to me. Perhaps some listeners didn't like being told to "Get Happy".
  4. Good to know. I'll have to pick that one up. I have his other 70s albums on vinyl but for some reason I never see this one.
  5. How do you find the remastering on this one? Some of the titles in this series were brickwalled to death
  6. Not officially announced yet but this is a forthcoming Tone Poet release. Joe Harley mentions it near the end of this podcast https://www.soundsvisualradio.com/podcast/sounds-visual-radio-episode-joe-the-tone-poet-harley/
  7. I think this series gets some criticism but I was all in. I have ~300 titles and I recall being really bummed out when the series ended in March 2004.
  8. 2022 Jazz Dispensary Top Shelf Series reissue
  9. Lee Gagnon Quintet - Le Jazze (Capitol Records Canada, 1968)
  10. I was pleasantly surprised by disc 1 as well and listened to it 3 times over the weekend. I regret not buying the Japaneses version as the US releases has below average packaging.
  11. This is great stuff. And I need to find a shirt like that.
  12. Somewhere on this forum someone recommended this album and while I can't find the original post, thank you to whomever did so. It's really good.
  13. Craft is reissuing on various formats on September 16. There is also a book of Sun Ra cover art that looks interesting. https://craftrecordings.com/collections/sun-ra
  14. Mike Longo's Talk With The Spirits is a good record unlike anything else on the label.
  15. I saw this and others from the Perception / Today vaults announced on Dusty Groove and my first thought was that when DJ Spinna did the compliation pictured in Rooster_Ties' post above, he said the tapes were missing. I did some digging and found the source https://www.villagevoice.com/2012/05/11/qa-dj-spinna-on-perception-records-new-york-soul-in-the-70s-and-why-a-tribe-called-quest-sampled-submission-better-than-anyone/ Here's the relevant passage: "they weren’t a label that I can say people really knew much about. There’s definitely a lot of mystery surrounding the label because there’s no tapes, no multi-tracks or masters. Everything on the compilation for the most part came off of records, so something happened somewhere. I don’t know if the [pressing] plant burnt down or something like that, but something happened"
  16. https://theseconddisc.com/2022/02/22/prince-miles-davis-patti-smith-lou-reed-mariah-carey-more-featured-on-legacys-record-store-day-slate/ According to this article the next edition of the Miles Davis Bootleg Series is coming later this year and will cover the period of 1981-1985
