  3. strangely, shearing, in an interview with wkcr host, cliff price, listed his album with nat cole as his favorite.
  4. unfortunately, the fabulous and illuminating 2 hours has ended. one of stubbs questions for bobby, still with a heavy performing schedule since the late 1940s, was how he maintained his still remarkable vocal skills. his explanation was that he never strains his voice and drinks plenty of water. his brother retired about 5 years ago after a stroke affecting one of his hands. strangely, bobby, likely well into his 70s, is enrolled in school taking courses in management. he picked up the mandolin because that was obligatory for bluegrass tenors. bobby appears to be a most humble, and happy, performer with seemingly none of the typical star affectations.

  13. a long ride in a big rig is a revelation--i cant imagine driving one.
  14. i worked for many years in a large steel warehouse and learned a great many things from the drivers, much of it music. carrying huge loads of steel with sometimes unbalanced loads that may shift, and, knowing that sudden braking would send the metal right through their cabs, trucking regulations, and the expense and long hours is a very rough way to earn a living

  17. i'm digging into my dozens of old caps, grand piano, the torme stuff, the farnon stuff. my favorite might be his sheerest old cap 'blue chiffon' or the absolutely gorgeous 'concerto for my love' with full orchestra and chorus, or the dakota, or the nancy, or, or,........................
