  1. My two cents: I have the complete Columbia and the Verve master takes, so I cannot answer the question precisely. I enjoy them both greatly, though on balance, I would go with the Columbia set. The last disc or two of the Verve set have some great moments, but sound more uneven to me. I think the songs on the Verve set are more drawn from the great American songbook, which is a strength of that collection if you like those songs (I do). I don't think you'll be disappointed either way if you like Billie Holiday.

  2. I just received my copy of People Time as a gift from my wife. The music is beautiful, as others have already said, and although the fold-out liner notes are not an ideal mode of presentation as one person indicated earlier in the thread, the essays by Gary Giddins and Kenny Barron in those notes, IMHO, are very nice and add to the listening experience. Giddins says that Getz was preparing to write his autobiography with Giddins's assistance at the time of Getz's final illness. That could have been an interesting book.
