  1. Hi there. Thought I might share my versions of Green Onions with you!. Played on my Hammond XK3c & Leslie 3300. The backing track I made using my Yamaha PSR3000 keyboard. Hope you enjoy them!! Full version with my backing track, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psX3BVSSk9c&feature=channel_video_title Solo version,
  2. Hi there. I`ve got a Leslie 3300, & like Jim i`m not happy with how little room there is,as you turn up the tube gain, before it gets into really nasty, almost fuzz-box territory. After reading Jims recommendation of using a NOS 12AT7 tube,i`ve ordered a NOS 12AT7 ECC81 CV4024 M8162 Mullard Tube.(I live in England & there isnt a lot of choice tubes wise!!).This tube is supposed to be a really good one,& wasnt cheap!!!!. However, after lots of research,i`m concerned about causing possible damage to my beloved Leslie 3300,by changing the tube. Some people say the 12AT7 is interchangeable with the stock 12AX7,others say its not. There is also mention of voltage & temperature changes etc. I havent got a clue, basically!!! I was just wondering if Jim or anyone else could give me some advice. I really dont wanna damage my Leslie!!!! Many thanks.
  3. Hi Jim.Thanks for your feedback.I guess the XK3 & 3300 must sound great otherwise you wouldnt use them live.Ive read elsewhere that somebody had a real B3 & an XK3 & they run them both through a real Leslie to compare them,& the XK3 through a Leslie was identical to the B3.He couldnt tell them apart. Thanks Sean.
  4. Blimey!!! I wasnt expecting to meet another Madness freak here!! Brilliant!! :-D Yeah,Madness were the soundtrack for me too. Thanks for your compliments mate.Do you really think I could step in for Barso???!!! Cheers mate.
  5. sure thing nuttylee. since i'm a registered movie freak, i'm bound by law to mention that "Hip Hug Her" opens and closes the following film - click on title for trailer (since you obviously like/love the tune, i figured you should be aware...): Barfly Yeah I really love the tune.Ive covered this live version which is a bit more upbeat - I do love the album version though. That gorgeous Hammond drives me nuts!! You dont want to stick your hand in my twirling Leslie mate,it will bloody hurt!!! ;-)
  6. Thankyou for your reply Sean. Why wouldnt you use your XK3 to record with? Dont you think it sounds like a real B3? I love the sound of my XK3c,its just that I wish I could play a B3 so I could get a good comparison.
  7. Thankyou very much for your kind words.
  8. Hi,heres a couple of links to my covers of the classic Booker T & The MGS songs,Green Onions & Hip Hug Her,if anyones interested. I created the backing tracks by playing the drum, bass & guitar parts on my Yamaha PSR3000 keyboard,& played along live using my Hammond XK3c & Leslie 3300.Not brilliant sound quality,as filmed with a little digital camera, but I hope you like it. Green Onions Hip Hug Her
  9. OK Jim,thanks for letting me know.So the XK3c must be different to the XK3.Im still a little bit confused as to why they wont work.I was wondering if you could maybe explain the reason a bit more?.Im just disappointed because I was looking forward to trying your settings out,as you really know your stuff. I bought the Leslie 3300 on the strength of your review & am loving it. Ive never had the opportunity to play a B3,C3 or any tonewheel Hammond,or hear one "in the flesh",so it would be nice to think that with my XK3c & Leslie 3300,ive finally, after 23 years of waiting, got THE SOUND ive lusted after!.Jim,can these really sound like a real B3 & Leslie 122? Just another quick query, you say you use the tube amp on the Leslie 3300,but do you have the tube amp on the XK3 switched on too? Thankyou for taking time to reply to me Jim,I really appreciate it. All the best, Lee.
  10. Hi Jim. Just joined.Love watching you play, youre incredible. Im the proud owner of an XK3c & Leslie 3300.I absolutely love them. Was wondering if you could email your XK3 custom tonewheel settings please.Although im a bit confused,as I have read somewhere that they wont work on the XK3c.I cant see why not,as they both use the same sound engines. What do you think? Much appreciated Jim, Lee (email) lee@lpegram7.orangehome.co.uk
