Good to see that Nimbus West are continuing to reissue their catalogue on CD. I've just noticed a couple of new reissues on their website, including one by Horace Tapscott that has only been available on vinyl before.

Salter's a beautiful writer, there's nothing he's written that I've not enjoyed. I particulary enjoyed his non-fiction ...."Gods of Tin" & "Burning the Days" and his last (fiction) book "All That Is".

Beautiful album...like everything by Henry.

Oooh, Ran Blake.... yummy!

Anyone know where I can get a copy or download of the Legendary CD? I know this is a real long shot, but what the hell.

Just finished this. An interesting story but I found the writing style rather uninvolving...something lost in translation, maybe?

Ordered together with a copy of "Congliptious" via Paypal

Do you know where it's taken from, Jim?

I just keep coming back to: why are guns so available?
As someone who doesn't live in the US, I continually ask the same question........

Yes, I like all the albums I have by him but I must say that I was very disappointed when I saw him live at The Sage last year. Part of a stellar group (The Spring Quartet) with Leo Genovese, Esperanza Spaulding and Jack DeJohnette, they never seemed to get going. Lots of drum and bass solos and mainly squeaks from Joe. Maybe it was just a bad night.....

Finished this on holiday recently.. well plotted and written, as ever by him...recommended.
Now part way through this....
... lots of very interesting (to me) background to the London folk scene in the 60's and 70s. In fact not a great deal about Bert Jansch after reading a third of the book. I guess that will come later, although he does seem to be a rather enigmatic figure.....

I've seen Billy a bunch of times - always great! My guess is that he doesn't tour with this own group because it's more profitable and easier with the Cookers. I've always enjoyed his own group, though, which also gives him a chance to stretch out a lot more.
Yes, I saw him recently with The Cookers. He was predictably brilliant...in fact the whole group were terrific, one of the best jazz concerts I've been to in years.

Yes, I finished reading my copy recently... enjoyed it. Definitely better than most musical biographies I've read.

Hello,
does anyboby know if the original liner notes in english are included in these upcoming Impulse reissues?
That's would be great, just as for many of the recently reissued Blue Note titles.
The original liner notes in English only appear in the reproductions of the back covers.
Yes, that's a great shame because some of the orginal liner notes are worth reading. Sound is very good, though....
