Yes, it is. Ricky Riccardi already wrote a book on Armstrong's later years (excelent one, btw), and hopefully another one will follow in years to come, focused on his early years. And if Armstrong's 'sell-out discussion' is intended as pejorative, I will forward this conversation to Ricky and you will have to deal with him. He can be very convincing! -

Talkin' 'bout completists... I just checked again the list of the artists of whom I own the highest number of discs. Simple rules: a) boxed sets account for the number of individual discs contained; b) the list only includes leader or coleader discs; c) any format, including digital; bootlegs as well d) overlapping/duplication allowed Stupid and inaccurate exercise as it is, I always surprise myself when I periodically run it (for example: why on hell do I own so many Sun Ra and Cecil Taylor discs? or who's that "Varios. Recopilaciones"? or how many hundreds of discs haven't I listened to for ages? ) This here's my list: Cuenta Ellington, Duke (& his Orchestra) 341 Cuenta Varios. This session was originally supposed to include Lester Young and Milt Jackson, who never showed up; Thompson and Garrison were recruited at the last minute to take their places. Later in February Parker signed a one-year exclusive contract with Dial.

R.I.P. For me, it was also the first World Cup for which I learned by heart all lineups. In fact I still can recall a bunch of them: Waldir Peres, Leandro, Oscar, Luizinho, Toninho Cerezo, Júnior, Falçao, Sócrates, Serginho, Zico and Éder. Zico and Sócrates were my idols by then. I also have some remembrances from Argentina '78 and Mario Kempes defeating the Clockwork Orange team, but Spain was different... ... even though I did not attend any of the matches. At that time I was a huge fan of Brazil national team, so I was really disappointed with Italia qualifying for the semifinals and then beating Germany 3-1 in the final. And besides, I have never been very fond of 'catenaccio'. This image of Sandro Pertini celebrating Paolo Rossi's goals is iconic: -
