Footprints Live! and Beyond the Sound Barrier are to be reissued on SHM CD this spring in Japan with the bonus tracks Chief Crazy Horse and Zero Gravity from the original releases. Alegria will be reissued without a bonus track.
Seemed worth a mention since these discs appear to be out of print in the US.

The first two episodes of The Americans. It's not often US television gives you an opportunity to root for the good guys.

I can't answer that for you, but I find the newly mastered versions in these "Impulse Album Collection" box sets to be very nice sounding, an improvement over the early 16 and 20 bit versions.
I see what you mean with regards to the early 16 and 20 bit versions. Still, I found some of the titles from box 2, e.g. Crescent, a tad too loud when listened to on headphones.
Are Hip-O Select boxes 4 and 5 also mastered by Kevin Reeves?

I'm really enjoying listening to this music by session. Yesterday Black Fire, this afternoon the Smoke Stack session (noticeably better sound than the Connoisseur).

Interesting, as to me this was one of the few "free jazz" albums I could totally dig way before I was able to really dig any other late Trane (such as "Ascension", "Meditations", "Interstellar Space"). I've long grown into loving all of it very much, but "Sun Ship" somehow holds a special place in my house. As music of stark beauty, and a kind of straightforward honesty that is solemn and sublime.
The first late Coltrane I connected with was "At The Village Vanguard Again!" and I find it hard to understand why this music is still dissed so often. Now I'm no musician so perhaps to many "At The Village Vanguard Again!" and "Live In Japan" are just noise and this is simply beyond my comprehension. All I know is I prefer Coltrane from Crescent onwards and have little use for a lot of the Atlantic and some of the meek early Impulse! albums.

Great news. Now if only the remastering is not as loud as on the recent Impulse originals series. Very uncomfortable on headphones.

Why don't you register again under a different e-mail address and have everything from that mailbox forwarded to your everyday account?

Making people pay for a routine check when no customs duties are due is preposterous. Aren't these civil servants' wages already payed out of tax payers' money?
I'd think so, too! I rang them up to ask and that's the answer I got, and the guy even had the guts to add: "and now, what exactly is your question?" - ha! No use debating with someone like that!
The fees they add here are about the same, but around 50€ is tax- and fee-free (same if it's Europe or overseas though, as we're not part of the former either).
Jazzmessengers can be asked about the declaration value, too, btw - only did it once so far and it worked fine, now I'm waiting for the Threadgill from them (Mosaic says "second half of 2013", that can mean nearly another year of waiting, which I'm not patient enough for right now, sorry!)
Oh, can big box sets also be on backorder? I somehow assumed only Selects weren't pressed all at once. Like the Pullen sets' masters being destroyed before reaching the 5000 limit?

The mosaic customs declaration on both the defective and replacement orders listed a value of only $35. Not enough for Dutch customs to bother on both occasions, though a few Euros above the limit. When they do charge you for a €25 import all sorts of administrative costs are added and you are presented with a bill of never less than about €13.
If Mosaic always declare a value near $100 too low on customs declarations, I'll keep taking my changes ordering from the US.

It's worth picking up if you're a completist of official releases from these 1960 tours. It's not the place to start (performance and sound wise).
