  1. If you take them to the SA or a library, just make sure that you haven't inadvertently included "Hillary Does Dallas."
  2. I'll never drink Sngrya again!

    Amy Winehouse

    Double blessed!
  4. Well, that and gumbo. Served up by grandma Bolden. Thanks for all that, Larry. Alex, who resides in my Mac, will read it to me this evening.
  5. BN, I think you need to understand that there are people here who judge Wynton by his music, people who have heard an immense range of performances, including his, and draw from from that listening experience the conclusion that Wynton's playing/composing does not measure up to the hype that keeps him in the spotlight. There are some of us who simply do not see awards and positions of power as yardsticks for greatness. Once you understand that and realize that it is possible to make artistically-based evaluations that are polar opposites of your own, I think the "controversy" will seem less personal to you.

She's lucky to have you. The more I hear her perform, the more I feel she represents a triumph for hype.
  7. Well, if accompanied by a Bollard Awareness campaign.... Then, too, an enterprising entrepreneur might come up with a clip-on BollardGard™
  8. I am told that Pollock played mini-golf in Hackensack...and made quite a splash.
  9. Smile pretty, Allen....
  10. I thought this tread was supposed to be about Wynton's shit music...what happened?
  11. Kalundborg. Close enough. BTW the Danish film from which stem the great Louis Armstrong performances we so often see, I Cover the Waterfront, Dinah, Tiger Rag, is "København-Kalundborg." It was released in 1934, filmed the year before. That film also featured other orchestras, including Erik Tuxen's (he is mentioned in the review that kicks off the Carl Nielsen thread):
  12. This is the Wynton troll who was kicked off the AAJ board.
  13. My comment would be the same. BTW, did you listen to my Ruby Walker audio file, yet?
  14. I think you are becoming the Big O....bituarian! Theme: Nellie Lutcher's "He's a Real Gone Guy....."
  15. So, there we have it....the shady trickster is looking at a white trio. Probably wondering if he can use it to throw an election.
  16. What a twisted, mean-spirited sense of humor they have!
  17. That's enough out of you, Sweden!
  18. Thank you, Allen, for satisfying my inquiring mind in such detail. So who was seated on your lap, Ron?
  19. Yes, who is this man???? ...and what is he looking at????
  20. Well, the problem is, once you do it, you're kind of stuck. In the incestual (is that a word?) world of jazz bulletin boards, jazzmoose is pretty well known, but who the hell ever heard of Mark Combs? And once you're known by that name, you're just as "googlable". The different names on different boards I don't understand, although I used "Mrs. Anne Elk" on JazzCorner for a while. I don't think I fooled anyone, but then it wasn't my intention to do so. I think I recall Mrs. Elk--she was a dear.
  21. How so? It sure would have made some of my eBay dealings easier! On the Mac, you hold down the option (alt) key and hit "o" for ø, "'" for æ (or "q" for œ), and "a" for å. Of course, also holding the shift key gives you Å Ø Æ or Œ If you are using a PC, I hope you get the same results and don't have to type in a ASCI number!
  22. And that would be a simulated paper bag over his head--removed only for 5 hours on Halloween night.
  23. Thank you! I look forward to exploring it.
