  1. Agreed on both. That Gibbs recording is terrific. Listened to this one recently. Terrific music.

  3. A very enjoyable recording. Yes. Jiggs is an outstanding player. On this CD, he stands out to me as the most interesting and creative soloist, even among this heavyweight crew.
  4. This is a fine recording. Terell Stafford is especially strong.
  5. It just barely touches the 70's but it came out in the 70's. "Modern Jazz 1945-1970 - Five Critics Compile a Basic Library" The five critics being Max Harrison, Alun Morgan, Ronald Atkins, Michael James and Jack Cooke. I tried to obtain all 200 records on the list (except for some of what they called "the new thing", but I even listened to a few of those). This was very influential book in my formative jazz years, along with Martin Williams "The Jazz Tradition", which I borrowed from my high school library and never returned.
