Much appreciated! To make the situation more complex, it seems there were at least two, possibly three takes made of this song before one was used for this LP, including at least one with strings and no vibes at all ... anyway, a fine solo.
LP was recorded in the summer (June 15/16, 1960). Great for Ella to have the X-mas feelings at such a time

From the "Ray Charles Presents David Newman" discogs entry for the Speakers Corner LP:
Thank you for this. It looks they have original source & licence indeed for some material. This imprint is IMO not found on all issues.. For example not on my 4 LP JATP box. But your scan clears the matter a bit more.
BTW have just received some CD's from the spanish Jazz Messenger Service on the label "Phono".
No information at all on these "Phono" editions. Seems very questionable re thew source.

RIP. Would anyone know if that's Emil who plays that very nice vibes solo on Ella's version of "The Christmas Song" from around '60 on Verve LP MGV 4042 "Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas" , apparently with the Frank DeVol Orchestra ...
Lord's discography does not list the members of the orchestra so it might be Emil Richars. He is found on many CAPITOL G. Shearing & Stan Kenton LPs as well as in the groups of Paul Horn. He played also in the Glen Gray bands (series "Sound of the great bands") and the orchestra of Shorty Rogers just to name a few of his stations.

I have three 4 Men reissues and they all have correct copyright and licensing info. They are an American company. Doxy is an Italian-based public domain loophole outfit. No comparison.
Speakers Corner Records is a german company and not US!!!
Speakers Corner HiFi GmbH
Eichkoppel 15A
24214 Gettorf
GermanyDont see a license entry for their records on the Items. They dont have a label/logo on their r4eissue discs.IMO this is a pure reissue company for public domain material as is Doxy (= sublabel of a russian organisation). They all make immense money and do not draw from original mastertapes thats for sure.More Info here -

Also, "Jazz Grafico" Jorge Garcia listed as author; an oblong softcover issued by a museum in conjunction with an exhibit of jazz album cover art.
Includes an interview with Burt Goldblatt; separate sections on Goldblatt, Claxton, Herman Leonard and other artists/designers.
Here are some scans

Thanks Dan, hard to believe I mis heard it from the radio that badly! Ann Farholt obviously does the brilliant parallel vocal of the melody.
Jesper Thilo is member of the Danish Rafio Big Band. Have several recordings with that band.

A number of posters indicated that while they like (at least some) of Peterson's recordings with Ray Brown & Ed Thigpen and/ or the ones with Sam Jones & Bobby Durham and maybe Louis Hayes, they don't care for his playing on the Pablo label.
Some of his things on Pablo are not items I care much for either. However there are quite a few on Pablo that I do like. Some examples are his series of duo sessions with trumpet players, especially the one with Dizzy Gillespie and the duo with Milt Jackson. Others I enjoy are his Montreux sessions with a variety of good players such as Milt Jackson, Dizzy, Lockjaw, Clark Terry & Toots Thielemans. The Oscar Peterson - Count Basie sessions are great fun to my ears. Also I like his Bach Suite on "Oscar Peterson Live". So while some don't like his playing on Pablo, I do not share that view.
I should also say that some of his things on Telarc, perhaps his final recordings are also very enjoyable.
The title of this thread is misleading IMO.
The individual preferences which one of his groups they like or not is a private statement and thats it.
I have collected Peterson from his very early recordings on over all periods. My preferences are the trios with Brown and Kessel and/or Ellis. The Brown/Kessel fomation was the house rhythm serction for Norman Granz and is basis for many great records with all the great names you can find. The MPS recordings are also great for their sound. There is no doubt that he is one of the great names in jazz and this remains.
The private statements from some people what they like or not has nothing to do with the quality Oscars playing. Thats a fact.
Private opinions respected but they do not mean anything about the status of an artist like Peterson or others.

track Heat Wave"
This might be with Ray Brown (b) & Barney Kessel (g) from 1952 on label World Transmission Records
track "Swinging till the girls come" home was issued on Verve VSP/VSPS-42 Oscar Peterson at JATP probably from 1953
The rest looks also as some JATP recordings with the early Peterson Trio. Later Herb Ellis was on guitar.
Hope this helps
