... and November 30, 1979 at the second Göttingen Jazz Festival: Carmell Jones & Friends Inc. feat. Miss Elly [later Elly Wright] Note: Carmell Jones replaced Leo Wright as leader because Leo Wright has had a stroke short before the gig.

Thanks for that Info. Leo was also member of the RIAS big band. Here is an example with with the "Berlin Dreamband" 1969 conducted by Stan Kenton (radiobroadcast)

A 23-piece first-class West Coast rather Kentonesque orchestra, two French horns, multiple woodwinds, two basses used as a section in a striking manner etc. Richmond's textural sense is often exquisite and novel, and his ability to build to bold climaxes is notable too. Not for everyone perhaps, but I find it fascinating. Wish that Richmond had allotted more solo space for himself; he's a fine ballsy altoist; I remember him from John Garvey's U. of Illinois band of the late '60s. There's a successor to this one, an overt Kenton tribute that I've ordered, and several excellent small group Richmond albums with trumpeter Clay Jenkins.

ive got quite a lot of Oscar Peterson cds and lps. Will spin some of them to decide if I want to keep them or sell. This one’s definitely a keeper. The trio with Brown and Thigpen was a lovely group :)

Have it with this cover - but prefer the guitar & bass trios ;-]]

Helmut Brandt Combo - Berlin Calling (Sonorama)

Its nice to find a german Helmut Brandt fan at the 'Organissimo' forum.

    H. Brandt was one of the very important german jazz musicians of the Cool Era. His most famous composition is "Berlin Caling"  first issued on an early Bertelsman Vinyl.

My good friend Klaus Scholz (living in Berlin) and me have exchanged a lot of Brandt mateial which was never issued officially but are  recordings from the german radio.

We have also his official recordings which are listed below:

All the main Prestige albums -Saxophone Colossus’, ‘Tenor Madness’, ‘Plus One’, ‘Worktime’ etc.

Sound is very good. Get this one and the ‘Saxophone Colossus and More’ Prestige Twofer and you are pretty well sorted for Rollins on Prestige vinyl, unless very big bucks beckons.

Ah yes thanks again. Have the three highlighted above  + the one Prestige  LP 7075  which was issued under Monks name  on a OJC CD  Thelonious Monk / Sonny Rollins.

"Saxophone Colossus" is on the wantlist and soon coming in. Difficult is the track D4 of the twofer. He seems to be issued only on an EP 1337 .  There exists an LP on Bellaphone " MJQ the early years"  but the track with Rollins is missing on that LP which I have. So I will decide against the twofer  for that one special track.

    Thanks for the informative conversation.

    from https://www.discogs.com/master/308203-Sonny-Rollins-Sonny-Rollins

IIRC, this was the first Sonny Rollins album I ever heard.  :)

Thank you but its hard to read. Have looked up Discogs but no Information there from which albums these tracks are selected from.  Is there more >Info in the liner notes?

The title of this one above  is familiar to me with another artist

This title is also used for a collaboration of Candoli & Geller with the Frankfurt Radio Bigband

Got mine today ... and somehow I'm sad. Looks like a used copy, five (of six) traycards are crumpled to some extent (one even torn, the small part that's visible from the back of the case is coming off, another has ugly dents from the tray being forced in without the paper in its proper place), two (of three) booklets have crushed corners because they were not properly put into the cases before they were closed ... and the cases themselves are all of the cheap replacement type, some falling open when you take them out.

I won't bother asking for replacements, but that's really not a quality job.

If I'd put it on Discogs now, unplayed, the art would have to be VG+

Happy to report all discs seem to be in there though (two were stored in wrong sequence) and the big booklet (heavy paper, a tad too heavy I'd say for the stapled "binding"?) has only minor dents and misses no pages ;)

Really astonishing! Got mine (a prepaid Item) last week in pristine shape.  Had also a tracking link from Scott. No complaints at all like in the past for all Mosaic boxes I had ordered over the years.
