  1. Yeah, sorry, I don't know who it is either, sure is good!

I love that LP! I like a lot of Rey's material (not all of it).

It's funny, a lot of hipster kids have been getting into his "crazy"

steel Guitar work....It all comes full circle & back again!

    Crazy, Daisey!

  2. Was on the liner notes to the Stan Getz/Albert Daily LP,

in which Getz recounted a story about how Albert couldn't stand Sax players...

and this conversation took place in Stan's car, w/ Albert sitting in the passenger seat

    (dead man's seat)!!

I really do seem to recall that. Was it on the "POETRY" LP?

    Help me out, somebody....

  3. Wow! What a surprise! I just got done spinning Sonny Stitt "Salt & Pepper" Impulse Original.

I found the reed Sonny used here in Denver, @ Clydes Pub...Way back in 19980.

Man was Sonny stinkin' drunk!! But, he played his ass off, and, as he was wont to do, cut some

youngbloods who were "ready" to jam w/ Stitt. I'll never forget it. BTW, He signed the reed!! :tup :tup

Of course, Gonsalves was on the date.

  5. Anybody on here wise to the Lee Wiley IMPERSONATOR" There was at least 2 Wiley impersonators, the last being active up until 1999. Very strange stories!

I happened to know the 2nd Wiley "impersonator", funny thing was, older folks would come up to her at open piano nights, at a very posh Hotel here in Denver, and flat accuse her of being Lee Wiley, at at least (in my presence) she got up from around the piano and archly stated:"Yes, I am and don't say another word about it!"

She had a lot of "tells", some of which gave her away, but, most enhanced her story.

She had many stories of Joe Bushkin, Bix, Billie, ...jeez so many.

That lady, who I knew for at least 14 years, died around 1999/2000.

    Very strange.

Anybody got any soup on this? Or even the bona fide Wiley hoaxter??

  6. Tired as it sounds, a record is worth what an individual will pay for it.

Many factors play: How bad does the "collector" want the LP, ETC......

Vinyl is a strange animal, ACTUAL people decide what they are willing to pay

    for an album.

I do take exception to Clifford's "no record should go for over $100.00.

Heck, many records are pressed (not just jazz) i such small batches, that more folks want them

than were pressed. Supply and demand, man.

    Dig it All-
