  1. One of my favorites from them. No vocals, but shows what an amazing band Union Station is. And speaking of sexiest album covers...
  2. This. Couldn't have said it better myself. One of the sweetest voices I've ever heard.
  3. *sputter* WHAT.!?!?! Well... in an AL East sort of way. You came thisclose to getting scratched from my Christmas card list for that outburst! ;)
  4. *sputter* WHAT.!?!?!
  5. Hmmm...that's certainly a disappointing review. Guess I'll stick with my Mach III for the time being. If you do try Dollar Shave Club, please let us know your thoughts on them as well.
  6. Hey, 8-2 in their last 10 is nothing to sneeze at. And it's not to gloat, but I find it pretty hilarious that many "experts" in the preseason had Detroit winning the division running away, and the Royals finishing (in most cases) no better than third behind Detroit and Cleveland. That didn't seem to work out as planned. Those same "experts" never saw Minnesota any higher than last, and SURE as hell never saw Detroit in the cellar. I think your boys are better than their record suggests, but they certainly didn't meet their potential, and I have no real reason why. But, they're still young, and still really, really good. Hopefully next year. Although, the wildcard is still within reach. Go Tribe! Hey, I've seen several games at Jacob's Field (who cares what corporate whore sponsor they currently claim), so I have a soft spot for them. The fans there are the best!
  7. Warming back up into the low 90's here this week, but it has been an outrageously mild summer here in the midwest U.S. Lark, LOVE the garden pics!
  8. Mets problem is the bullpen, particularly the 7th inning. No one has done the job there. Blew the game on Friday in the 7th and yesterday, before taking it back in the bottom of the 7th. They acquired the former Dbacks closer, Addison Reed, yesterday. Remains to see if he can do the job. If not, they will not go far in the playoffs. Mets relievers have the 7th best ERA in the majors, 6th best WHIP, and 5th best AVG against. That doesn't strike me as a problem. Oh, and they're 5th in earned runs. You can rest easy when your pen is putting up those kinds of numbers.
  9. Well, I disagree. I think they've been KIKKENAZZ!
  10. And "knowing how to win" counts for more than most would give credit. The Giants actually remind me of the Cardinals in that they just quietly get the job done while seemingly nobody is paying attention. That said, if I were a NL team, I would at least be a little wary of the Mets. They are the NL version of the Astros... If it makes you feel any better, the Mets would be in fourth place in the NL Central. But fuck all of that! Go Giants! Go Royals! I want a rematch! You know, I realize that rightwing fuck stepped in his own shit, and should pay the price for it. But, in all fairness, I actually understood what he was trying to get at... It was an incredibly dopey way to get his point across, though. I'm not sure we could expect any better from a Republican apologist...
  11. Now that you mention it, it is pretty strange. No 100 game winners this year. 90 may be a struggle. I'm pretty confident the Cardinals will reach 100 wins this year. The Royals would have to go 24-14 from this point, which isn't out of the question. Especially considering how relatively easy their remaining schedule is. Pirates could do it as well, and they have one more game to play than the Cards and Royals.
  12. There are currently four teams in MLB with 70+ wins, and three of them are in the N.L. Central. It's weird to see so few teams over 70 wins at this point, but even more odd for 75% of them to be in one division...
  13. This is very true. All of the artifacts that are generated during vinyl playback can be digitized. I have done it. The resulting CD-R plays back sounding like vinyl. I've A/B'ed the two and there really is no difference. Digital is quite capable of capturing the vinyl "warmth". Once you get past the "digital can't replicate vinyl's warmth" argument, you usually get the "Digital cuts off at 22,000 Hz" argument. It's true that digital can't capture anything above 22,000 Hz. This is usually where the craziness comes into the discussion. No one can hear 22,000 Hz, no matter what they say and any harmonics of the signals created up there (part 2 of the "those frequencies can be heard" argument) are so, so, so far down in relation to the signal that they're in the noise and very difficult to measure, much less hear. I'm sure there's a digital plug in that makes your audio sound like vinyl or sound like it's being played back through a single-ended tube amp (push-pull tube amps also generate even order harmonics). All it takes is analyzing the sound you want and working the knobs to get it. Huh? Aren't LP's usually cut off around 18kHz? How do vinyl enthusiasts even justify making such a silly argument?
  14. Interesting. So when there is a digital recording that sounds "cold", i.e....... an early digital recording, or say Tony Williams "Young At Heart", the first DSD recording released, is that because it's so clear and precise? That's the way I understand it. It doesn't have all that second order harmonic distortion which people associate with a "warm" sound. And yes, in comparison, digital does indeed sound "cold and clinical". Perhaps "overly precise" would be a way of stating it? And some folks don't like that. I do, but I'm in the minority around here, I believe.
  15. Go Pats?! No, go Giants! My Royals want a rematch!
  16. Well, yes and no. Our ears find 2nd harmonic distortion to be rather pleasing for some reason. Adding a bit of that into the signal can create a sense of 'excitement'. It's why we still like vacuum tubes. But vinyl is an extremely limited medium, especially in the low-end. Exactly. Second order harmonic distortion is pleasing to the ear. It's an argument I've tried to make in past conversations to no avail here. And it's the main reason why I find the "high resolving" argument when it comes to tubes and LP's so odd. Not to mention the fact that some folks get a little uppity when you mention the distortion that is introduced. I personally prefer the cold, clean sound of digital. Not to mention the wider dynamic range. IIRC, and you can correct me if I'm wrong, vinyl is limited on both the lower and upper ends.
  17. So is the program worth it so far? I've been considering trying either Harry's or Dollar Shave.
  18. In other words they're trying to make digital sound like LP. Interesting.
  19. Probably more of a buzz term they heard someone else mention, but you should find some of those comments and encourage them to explain what they mean. I've heard of an aural exciter, but have no idea what it does.
  20. Probably not, Paul. Though, I can't see them winning more than 4 or 5 this season. That division is stacked, and they have lost a ton of talent on both side of the ball.
  21. Unfortunately, you are probably right about that. I'm not sure I've ever seen a window slam shut as quickly as this…ever. Sorry, brother...
  22. His ex wife reportedly brings in a mil a year from investments. I'm sure they'll find a way to survive on that. Besides, Junior was paid well during his career. If he pissed it away, why is that the fault of the NFL?
  23. Junior Seau earned over $28mil during his playing career, and died with a net worth of $12mil. I'm sure the family will do just fine, with or without any assistance from the NFL.
  24. Stop what? He wasn't shown to commit perjury. What's the big deal?
