  1. I picked up Volume 1 from a discogs Seller recently and just listened to it yesterday (I listened to it twice, in fact). It is fantastic in every way - wonderful music, great sound (dynamic and not compreseed at all), and an excellent booklet and liner notes. I liked it so much that I just ordered Volumes 2, 3, and 4 from No Business via their eBay listing. I have no idea how long those 3 volumes will take to get to NY from Latvia but it will be well worth the wait. I had not previously heard about the Sam Rivers Archive Series. Thanks for this thread for pointing it out to me. Volume 1 is fantastic and I am sure that the other volumes will also be great.
  2. New Year's special: free media mail shipping (including postal insurance) for the upcoming week (if ordered by Friday, January 8, 2021). $200 total (with free media mail shipping until 1/8/21). Payment by pay pal friends/family. Thanks.
  3. I also have a few Scorpios in my collection - Sun Ra, Coltrane, Ramones, etc. I bought them new a few years ago at my local record store. Scorpio reissues lps on 180gram vinyl and reproduces the original album cover art. In fact, "Scorpio" is not listed anywhere on the lp label or cover. I was told by a very knowledgeable record dealer that one can spot a Scorpio record by the large black/gold "180 gram" label on the shrinkwrap. The Scorpio reissues are ubiquitous. They market 180 gram vinyl as being better sounding than non-180gram lps (which is nothing but marketing nonsense). However, most Scorpio reissues are merely needle drops. The sound is not bad on the Scorpio reissues but I have learned to avoid buying them. I spend money on records to have something that sounds better than a CD, not to have a needle drop lp that sounds the same as a CD.
  4. I am offering for sale the following Mosaic Louis Armstrong box set: Columbia and RCA Victor Live Recordings of Louis Armstrong and the All Stars. 9 CDs. Everything (box, booklet, CDs, and jewel cases) is in Like New condition. One of the rarer Mosaic sets to find. Great music, great condition. If you wish to see pics of the set, please send me your e-mail address via pm and I will gladly e-mail a few pics of the set. $200 + $10 U.S. Postal media mail shipping. Payment by pay pal friends/family. I will ship the set (packed well and wrapped in bubble wrap) in the original Mosaic shipping carton. I will insure the package at full value and will also send Buyer the postal tracking # after shipping it. Thanks.
  5. I just received Sun Ra's Solar-Myth Approach Vols. 1 & 2 in today's mail. I ordered directly from Corbett vs Dempsey. I am curious how the sound will compare to the previous CD version I have (the 2001 Fuel Records 2000 2-CD version) as well as the recent vinyl reissues I have of the 2 volumes. I am sure the new CvsD reissue will have improved sound quality and I look forward to listening to it this weekend.
  6. I just received my copy in this morning's mail. It will be a fun weekend of listening to music. In addition to receiving the new Mosaic Hank Mobley set, today I also received the new Thelonious Monk Palo Alto CD, as well as a Zombies box set (Zombie Heaven, 4 CD).
  7. I just received an e-mail from Mosaic notifying me that my Mobley set shipped today. I should have it in 4 or 5 days. Has anyone received the set yet?
  8. I am looking for CD 3 of the large Andrew Hill set, as well as a nice copy of the box for that set. I bought a set a couple of years ago off of ebay for a very cheap price because it was missing CD 3 and the box was badly beat up but it had everything else. It is one of my favorite Mosaics and it would be nice to have it complete. Here is a full list of things I am looking for: Andrew Hill Complete Blue Note (need CD3 and box) Eddie Condon Mob Sessions (need box) Jimmy Giuffre Complete Capitol & Atlantic Recordings (need box) Teddy Wilson Complete Verve (need box and large book) Benny Goodman Small Group (need box) Lee Morgan/Wayne Shorter Complete VeeJay (need box) Gerry Mulligan/Chet Baker Complete Pacific Jazz & Capitol (need box)
  9. I placed an order at CvsD yesterday for the Sun Ra. This is a great month for me for new Sun Ra. I picked up the the new Modern Harmonic reissue of Celestial Love a few days ago, just received the Egypt 1971 RSD 5lp box set in today's mail, and will soon receive the CvsD reisssue of solar-myth approach vol 1 & 2.
  10. I got lucky and, after countless searching, found a reasonably-priced ($100) copy on discogs about a week ago. It just arrived today and I look forward to listening to it this weekend.
  11. The Marshall Allen/Danny Ray Thompson record is now SOLD. Here is an updated list of what is still available for sale. Items are for sale individually (shipping $4 extra, payment by pay pal friends/family) or I can also do $55 shipped for all 5 titles if anyone wants to buy all 5 remaining albums. John Coltrane: Coltrane Jazz. Recent 180 gram reissue. Mint/Mint - still in shrinkwrap but shrinkwrap opened on side edge to allow removal of lp. $14 Eric Dolphy: Copenhagen Concert (2lp. 12. Thanks for the tip about the Sun Ra. I have the solar-myth approach vol. 1 & 2 in the Fuel 2000 Records 2-CD reissue (2001). I also have recent lp reissues of both volumes but I will definitely get this version. Corbett vs Dempsey does quality work and I know this will be an upgrade frrom prior releases of this title. I love the CvsD 2-CD reissue (2013) of Sun Ra Continuation. That is also a must have for any Sun Ra aficionados.
  13. Remaining 6 album whole batch discount. If anyone wants to buy all remaining 6 albums (which includes two 2lp sets and one 3lp set), I can sell all 6 titles for $75 shipped (a savings of $21 and which averages to a little more than $12 per album). Payment by pay pal friends/family. U.S. Postal media mail shipping only (sorry, no international shipping). I know it may be a long shot to sell all 6 titles at once but, because it saves me the hassle of having to pack and mail 6 individual albums, I wanted to give a great deal to any fellow forum members who may be interested. Thanks. John Coltrane: Coltrane Jazz. Recent 180 gram reissue. Mint/Mint - still in shrinkwrap but shrinkwrap opened on side edge to allow removal of lp. $14 Eric Dolphy: Copenhagen Concert (2lp. 18. I forgot to add to my initial post that I will also be offering these for sale on an audio forum that I am a member of. I will note on this thread when something has sold though so, if an lp is still listed here, it means it is still for sale. Also, please feel free to pm me with any questions or if you would like to see pics of any albums. I did not post pics due to the # of albums but I would be glad to take/e-mail pics of specific albums if requested. Thanks again.

  20. I am looking for the Sun Ra Egypt 1971 RSD release (5lp box set). I have bought every Sun Ra RSD release for the last 6 or 7 years but got shut out of this one (as did most people). This looks to be the best Sun Ra RSD release so far but unfortunately it was a very small limited edition (only 600 copies) and copies sold out online in minutes. I tried to order as soon as copies were made available online from from Dusty Groove, Bull Moose, etc., but had no luck. Prices are now going for insane prices on eBay (it is selling for over $200 on eBay; it was $86 retail). I know this is a long shot, but if anyone has a copy to sell at a decent price (i.e., non-eBay gouger price), please send me a pm. btw, I heard a rumor that this will also be released in a future CD box set (I hope that is correct). If so, I will get it on CD but it would be nice to have the lp box for my Sun Ra vinyl collection. Thanks.
  21. How is the sound quality of this set? I have read different things about the sound quality and would appreciate it if someone who has the set can let me know how the sound quality rates. Thanks.
  22. Great prices indeed on all of those. Somebody should especially grab the Chu Bery set. It is an excellent set and not a common one to find. It took me many months (and more money) to find my set.
  23. According to my research of sold prices, it looks like nice sets have sold for $120-$140. I just missed out on a mint set that Dusty Groove had for sale about a month ago for $140. Discogs lists the median sold price on its site as $119, and the highest sold price on its site as $155.
