  1.

Funnily enough I re-levelled my deck yesterday and got this one:

    "extend transparent dynamic envelope"

So, you levelled it, but did you get the bounce right?

I think some posters would accuse you of over compensating, if they

knew how much your Linn and Naim gear set you back.........

I think a small(mid-western) label could re-issue a decent title on CD, for the price

    of your gear....actually, I don't "THINK"...

Hell, sell them collectable E-Bay buys, and we'd get another box set from the mid-west...LMAO

  2. Johnny Cash: A Hundred Highways

    ........Johnny's final statement........

to have it reproduced in this fidelity is something unique, and actually quite gut-renching. The American Recordings of Cash(on vinyl) are amazing, period!!! I'm glad and sad, at the same time, that I have them.

The truth, warmth and honesty Cash emotes is so simple, yet impossible to be ignored. So much music pales in comparison.

I'd love to see Ruben and Dylan get together in the next year or two.....

  3. LMAO

  4. I have 2 or 3 titles from the latest edition of MoFi.

Hot Buttered Soul is a super reissue.

I need to pick up their Los Lobos title before it

    goes OOP.

BTW, The Hawk Flies High is still available on OJC vinyl for $10.

That being said, they are not really a player in the reissue

    vinyl game.

Speakers Corner with 50 Verve/Clef titles in print, and Classic Records with 50 Blue Note, and

numerous other jazz titles in print are the real players.

I like this one coming from Speakers Corner

  5. Too bad for Harold. He had a good run, no an excellent run.

I knew him in his Seattle days(live 1/4 mile from his old house).

Very much a player when woman did not complain about it.

Spent many a night with him in local tavern. Sweet, fun loving guy.

Trust me, I know how he hits on woman. Zero harrassment involved...

  6. What would Fantasy be w/o CCR...how do you think all the jazz titles stayed in print. Frankly, Fantasy would

have perished long ago w/o CCR.

Concord bought Fantasy for 3 reasons... Miles, Trane and CCR..end of story.

And I'm surprised they've beat the parasitic EU joke labels to the ' Hey , I can make a CDR' to the punch.

We need more EU parasite labels on the shelves to save a couple bucks. LMAO

You guys in the EU are a FN joke. For Gods sake.....create something on/of your own. Thank god for BMW, Mercedes and a couple TT manufactures.

France is an embarrassment to mankind...OTOH.. France is an embarrassment to Texas. Lance and many others

consider you less than 3rd world these days. An American with no hip wins the tour....nuf said.

The French Navy harassing Cali fisherman off rocks in Mexico...well FN done you FN losers...

The CCR titles I ordered will make a a few people happy as they will be stocking stuffers or BDay presents. Whether you are 15 or 55 get the CCR titles....

The Hawes titles..Vol. 1-3 are sweet.

  7. The beauty of Tiger's wife reminded me of someting...a bit off topic, but I'm sure most of you can relate.

    I've crossed paths with:

    Mark Spits

    Jack Sikma

    Tony Dorsett

Sam Perkins (big jazz fan BTW)

    Danny White

    Phil Mickleson

    Steve Young

    Randy Johnson

    Michael Cage

    and a few dozen more..

Before I recognized them, I had had to take my eyes off their companion. LMAO

Cage was unreal. I lived across the street from him for a year ot two.

He had 50 of what Tiger has without the strings, but golfers are different....

  8. No time to read through every post so somebody might've already said this: Isn't it a safe bet that these are almost all gonna be RVG'd? A bunch of 'em have been already, and 3 different versions (OJC/K2/RVG) of some of these things on the market is insane.

That may be right for the Prestige sessions RVG engineered, but it would seem questionable if he remastered Contemporary or Riverside sessions that were engineered by colleagues with a quit different sound philosophy. Kirk Felton and others did an excellent job on these.

Let's hope RVG doesn't get his deaf ears on the the DuNann's. In fact, if DuNann was not deaf, I'm sure he would have been approached to DuNann the RVG's. :)

Wolff is not a fan of RVG's....yuuuck!!!!

    Just ordered 20....

  9. I have a feeling money was not as big a factor as other intangibles

associated with Classic Records. AFAIK this will be the first time the

most coveted catalog in the world will be done out of house.

Classic Records has amassed quite a track record when it comes to

prestigious catalogs. Dylan, Hendrix. RCA Living Stereos. The Who,

Neil Young and Blue Note to name just a few. I think their stellar reputation

was as important as their money.

  10. I have about 90 Classic Records titles and easily another 150 titles pressed at RTI. All are dead quiet and flat.

I have returned about 10 for replacement or my money back due to defects. The latest being

    the Monk/Coltrane.

The records pressed at this plant hold up very well over the years.

CD's seem so cheap and worthless compared to

what Classic Records is doing. I guess that's a given in

    most vinyl vs. CD comparisons.

The fact that Classic Records gets a shot at the Beatles catalog speaks volumes

for how well they are thought of.

  11. Man, Classic Records just keeps on rolling.

    Mucic Angle article

    Their catalog is just sick!!

5 more Blue Notes coming this month and more in the future.

26 Impulse titles in the works.

    And now EMI titles from:

    David Bowie

    Rolling Stones

    Jethro Tull

    Roxy Music

    Frank Sinatra

    Nat King Cole

    Radiohead

    Queen

    Brian Eno

    James Taylor

and the Beatles!!! From everything I've read being able to reissue the Beatles

    is an amazing accomplishment.

My occasional complaints about noisy vinyl aside, Classic Records is an amazing reissue label.

In these days of reissue labels not leasing titles, Classic is in a league of their own.

My last Classic purchase was Neil Young's "Prarie Wind", and it's a beauty in every respect.

In addition, IMO Classic Records does a better job reissuing Blue Notes than Blue Note.
