Any advice on the best adhesive and process to use to reapply record labels on an old Debut record? The glue dried out and the labels fell off. Thanks.

I can't find out much about this record label besides a discography. Where did the Charlie Parker material come from? Was it previously released? I am listening to a copy of Bird Symbols PLP-407 and just wondering.

Frank Sinatra at the Sands with Count Basie. Picked up a White label promo, 1A stampers for $6. Since it just got mentioned in the NY Times as one of the top 100 jazz records of all time (FWIW); decided to give it a whorl.

Possible to sell large collection in Europe or Asia?
dsockel replied to dsockel's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
I spent a few hours yesterday inspecting the collection. Over 5,000 jazz records from a used record shop that is going out of business Some decent stuff, but nothing super rare that is going to get me to buy the whole lot. Lots of sealed duplicates (any George Benson, Grover Washington fans?) If anyone is seriously interested, PM me and I can give you more details. Thanks for all the advice. -

Thanks for all the good advice. One other option I am thinking about would be to pay a high school or college student by the hour to list the records on eBay and maybe handle the shipping too. -
Possible to sell large collection in Europe or Asia?

Thanks for the input. I will certainly check it out first thoroughly. I guess my question is: Would there be a market to sell 2,500 records relatively quickly for a fair price rather than eBaying it out over several months? -
I may be looking to buy a 5,000 record jazz collection and was wondering how I could sell about half of it in Europe or Asia to take advantage of the weak dollar. I am not sure how much truly rare stuff is in there. Probably more so typical $5-10 records from the 50s-80s. Has any tried to do this? Anyone living in Europe or Asia know of someone who might be interested?

I never pay more than $1 for original ESP-Disk's at my Salvation Army Awesome score.

Joe Farrell Outback on CTI. With Chick Corea and Elvin Jones. I picked it up cheap and threw it on. I surprisingly like it

I don't know about lack of eBay action. At least that Oxxbridge Gallery seller in New Jersey USA is dumping a ton of stuff, albeit at crazy minimum prices. The weak dollar should actually be pushing alot of US sellers into the market now. Maybe the Euro and Asian sellers are sitting back as no one is the US can afford to buy from overseas right now.

Dang. 4 years to get a reply from Mosaic. I knew that they were interested in preserving artifacts from the past, but did they have to keep the Pony Express mail servioce around too? Just kidding. I just bought the Monk Blue Note in Vinyl off eBay as was pleased to see Cuscuna's response. Thanks.

Apparently the seller is confusing Grover Washington being "out of print" with "I can find a copy at any thrift store in America"
-
That's what I had seen as well. No harm in asking I guess.

I was looking to buy some records here locally and put out a "wanted" ad. Some one replied indicating that they had some Miles, Trane, Monk for sale. So far, so good. I inquired about the condition, age, etc. This is the reply I received: "Before we waste each other's time. I would like to let you know personally that they are in excellent condition, original cover art. They have been cleaned thoroughly and played 3 days ago. They are excellent condition you would not need to come over just to look and then don't have a price set out front for your intended purchasing.I will definitely not let the milestones-miles davis album go for anything less than $1000. It is no longer in print. This copy I have is excellent condition, original cover art. I could play it for you over the phone let you hear the clarity. All the grover washington jr. albums are in original plastic wrapping used and played no scratches and clarity I can agree to allow you to listen over the phone, they all will be selling for $800.00 being the classic winelight up to $1000. Thelonious Monk-Criss Cross, the original cover art, but it has a few tears on the vinyl cover, LP is in excellent playing condition no scratches, excellent clarity it will not go no less than $1500.00 it too is out of print. For the record I won't allow anyone to go into the studio to look at my collection only those I am willing to let go for a fair deal. Let me know if we can do business." Needless to say, I thought $1,000 for Grover Washington's Limelight was a bit greedy.

Any idea if one exists or how to tell the difference among the various pressings?

Good News!!! An honest seller.

I guess the powers to be have spoken. Thanks for the input. Makes it easier to decide what to put on eBay. Wish me luck as I have never sold on there; only bought.

Harold Land In the Land of Jazz; Contemporary first press VG+/VG , but definitely with the $4 at the antique store Red Garland, Solar; Red Label 2nd press on Jazzland, $6 at same store

With the dollar at an all time low to other currencies, I am debating what to do with some of my duplicate records. A) I have some Blue Note NY USAs. Specifically, if you had one copy that was a solid VG+ but didn't have the "ear" and another copy that was a VG+ with more surface crackles and pops, but had the ear, which would you sell? B) How about the same question for Riverside Small Labels v. Large Labels? C) For a Prestige, I assume that a Yellow 50th Street is significantly better than any Yellow Bergenfield NJ? D) Impulse Orange v. Impulse Red? I assume that Orange is always much better regardless of sound quality? Other thoughts welcome. Thanks.
