  2. Are you absolutely positive you're a guy?

From the PC crap you've long espoused, I figured you had checked your cojones at the door a long time ago-and didn't ask for a receipt.

Bullshit. You need a new definition of what it means to be a man.

"Why can't I walk down a street free of suggestion? (repeat)

Is my body my only trait in the eyes of men? (in the eyes of men)

    I've got some skin

    You want to look in

There lays no reward in what you discover

You spent yourself watching me suffer

Suffer your words, suffer you eyes, suffer your hands

Suffer your interpretation of what it is to be a man

    I've got some skin

    You want to look in

She does nothing to deserve it

He only wants to observe it

We sit back like they taught us

We keep quiet like they taught us

He just wants to prove it

She does nothing to remove it

We don't want anyone to mind us

So we play the roles that they assigned us

She does nothing to conceal it

He touches her 'cause he wants to feel it

We blame her for being there

But we are all guilty" - Fugazi

Talk about a pathetic load of crap.

You need a new definition of what GUILT is.

Women get attacked-So all men are guilty of the crime?

You and your emasculated pal can take a flying leap.

  3. Rainy it's a guy thing but I understand why you don't approve.

that's crap. i'm a guy, and it ain't my thing.

Are you absolutely positive you're a guy?

From the PC crap you've long espoused, I figured you had checked your cojones at the door a long time ago-and didn't ask for a receipt.

  4. My impression was that they were trying to push people to open up Ebay "stores" where you can have buy it now items and so forth. I have sold on half.com, actually more items than I have sold on ebay. I feel it is a little lower pressure, and a good place for items that are going to stay on the shelf for a while, as it were. I think it took four months for my copy of the Pet Shop Boys Greatest Hits to sell (insert joke here), and the probability that I would have kept relisting it on ebay would have been 0.

Did it actually sell significantly higher than you would have gotten from your local used CD store?

  5. Tom Sizemore.

He doesn't play Rose during his playing career, and it looks to me like he at least has the girth to nail it.

Now, if he displays arrogance, minimal parenting skills, a love for the all mighty dollar, and contempt for the law and the game he supposedly loves, he'll deserve an Emmy nomination.

  6. Jim,

I think if you made an announcement thread the vast majority of people would have simply said, "OK" because most all of us understand that you're the owner of the bar we like to hang at. What you say goes, period.

And it wouldn't be necessary to give it a week. I'm just saying, take it down and post an announcement that you decided it was time for it to go, its your server, and your board and you decided this was necessary. Whether people tried to debate it or not, it wouldn't really matter.

  7. I posted in the Babe Thread about a month ago that I was very close to pulling the whole thing. I means whats I sez.

    :)

99.9% of those images can be found on the 'net I'm sure.

Yes you did give a warning, several weeks ago. When you don't follow up, it might be reasonably assumed that the warning wasn't serious.

Look, all I'm saying is, if it was time to remove the thread, an announcement would be nice instead of a deletion that leads to this thread being started.

  8. Then the directions should be to delete or label system restore points as being infected, rather than getting rid of all of them.

Basically, by seeing and reacting to your suggested course of events first and not seeing Kevin Bresnahan's recommendation til later, I'm screwed, royally. (not that I'm blaming you, John, but AAARRRGGGGHHHH :rmad:

Obviously, I should be more familiar with my operating system and its features, but now it seems I only have a few choices:

Try to follow the directions again and see if it works this time.

Live with the current infection (again, 99% is gone via spysweeper and adaware-the only enduring annoyance is the links that cashback peppers your web pages with.)

Back up everything and reformat the hard drive.

  9. Assuming the master list is correct, and considering that BFT #17 has been in active discussion for a while now, I respectfully suggest that its time to start your signup thread.

    Sincerely,

The co-Father of the Blindfold Test, AKA, the Forum Scold

    ;)

  10. In regards to the suggestions posted to my Adware/spyware thread, I followed the link couw posted and tried to follow the directions for the cash back infection.

One of those was disabling system restore, which is a function I'd never used before.

Well, I was about 99% successful with the fixing, as far as all the unwanted icons were concerned. But after reading Kevin B.'s suggestion, I decided to check out the System Restore option.

Does disabling system restore delete all of the existing restore points?? And what the hell is the point of that? Basically I've found that the options for system restore is restricted to the date that I disabled and then re-enabled the function.

And that ain't gonna do sh*t for me. And I'm f-ing pissed.:rmad:

  11. :D

Figures it was Manny or Millar.

3.5 back of the Yanks with three at Fenway starting tomorrow. We play so much better at home, I don't think its too much to hope for a sweep, if Pedro gets us going on Friday. Wakefield has historically baffled the free swingers in the Yankee lineup, and its Schilling on Sunday.

  12. Right now, Harold, my darker impulses are taking over and I fear a collapse. We have to get our act together against Baltimore cause we've got seven more with them and have not handled them this year at all.

In fact, I dare say that's the difference in the division race: The Birds roll over for the Yanks but play us tougher than anyone, and there's your four and a half games.

We were due for a let up, but there's no time for it to linger. Glad that Schilling goes tonite.

  13. I've never had a big problem with spyware/adware slipping into my PC, at least since, on the recommendation of our server guru, I installed SpySweeper.

Then came an innocent Google search last Friday. I clicked on one of the links, and BOOM all my protective software started squacking. SpySweeper says there's a trojan horse. AVG says there's another trojan horse. SpySweeper warns me that a program is trying to change my homepage to some porn site.

So, I start closing programs so I can try to get rid of these programs, and that's when I see what its done to my desktop:

18 new icons have suddenly appeared, from executables to BS shortcuts.

    And ah, the chutzpah!

A link to a pop-up blocker, delivered by a nefarious program that's popping up ads everywhere I click!

    A link to a spyware/adware blocker, delivered via spyware/adware!

    Un-freaking-believable!

So I spent the rest of the afternoon running the virus and spyware programs and actually had to leave before they were done. Come Monday, the trojan horses are gone and after I ran Spysweeper one more time, this time with nothing running in the background, it seemed to take care of everything.

Until today that is. Apparently, by rebooting, some but not all of the most annoying things have come back:

A new toolbar in Internet Explorer

A little doggie "Cashback" link on my toolbar

Links that appear on any web page I go to based on key words (like here, everywhere the word "music" appears, its become a link to an MP3 site.)

So, even though I should just do a search myself, can I get some recommendations for the very best adware/spyware removal products? Then, maybe other people can post their horror stories here, and everyone else who makes ill-fated clicks can find what they need in one place.

This Public Service Announcement was brought to you by Dan Gould, chastened Web user.

  14. Haven't compared as my wife and I have been satisfied with Netflix. Our only problem has been dawdling on seeing what shows up. If you keep watching them as they arrive, the monthly fee is not bad. But if you end up going a month and only getting three DVDs, then $20+ is overpaying for your rentals, big time.

I can understand the urge to go to the store and get something NOW, but I'm not missing the line at blockbuster one bit.

I'd give Netflix some time before they figure out if their price needs to come down, but either way, I've seen the future, and its DVD rental via online ordering and USPS delivery!
