  1. 3 hrs long is a little much, but what a spectacle to see Berkman and Tejada slammin' balls over the wall into the street. Gonna be watchin' the game tonite :)

I was guessin' Sosa was gonna win - I never would have guessed Tejada would win AND set a new record! Very cool stuff!

GO BREWERS! (and Mariners, but is there any hope?)

  3. Horace Silver – The United States Of Mind 2 CD - all three albums

Andrew Hill – Dance With Death - includes alt of title track

    Jack Wilson – Easterly Winds

Larry Young – Of Love and Peace

Sam Rivers – Contours - includes alt of Mellifluous Cacophony

Bobby Hutcherson – Now! - Includes Hutcherson's set from "Blue Note Meets The LA Philharmonic" which includes different versions of three of the tunes from NOW

I'd be all over all of these 'cept Easterly Winds - got TOCJ.

Especially psyched for the Hutch and Rivers :)

  4. Duke Person with Bobby Hutcherson - The Phantom (Water/Blue Note) June 29

    — first CD issue of 1968 release; with bonus Francis Wolff photos

Reuben Wilson - A Groovy Situation (Water/Blue Note) June 29

    — first CD issue of 1970 release; with bonus Francis Wolff photos & new interview with Wilson

Obviously the first one is Duke PEARSON - but whats the story on these reissues? Water label?

  5. Tony Williams also had another group he called Lifetime, with Allan Holdsworth, Alan Pasqua & ?(Can't remember the guy's name.)Their stuff was very much in the fusion mode.

I think that's the group I was thinking of when I thought of Lifetime - not the sweetness of LY/JM/TW

  6. The Tony Williams Lifetime is TW, John McLaughlin, and Larry Young!?!?!

Where the heck have I been for 30 or so years!!?!?!

and why didn't any of you guys tell me? :)

Anyway, just picked this up last night - smokin'!

Also had to get Santana/McLaughlin for more JM/LY magic.

Is there anything else I need to know :D

also - sorry I haven't been around lately- Easter is a busy time for me - life should be a bit more normal now. Sharingthegroove.org has got my attention recently as well.

    :excited:

  7. Dude, I hear ya.

I've got no time , but it seems like I've got all the time in the world - it just plain runs away from me.

I've got CDs from a year or two ago that I haven't got a chance to listen to, hell, even cracking the darn shrink wrap.

I'm the type who needs some time alone - like now - but to get it I gotta stay up too late. Then I'm beat all the next day.

My computer desk is totally trashed - I'm sure I just cleaned it yesterday.

I haven't even had a chance to post here much recently.

Well, maybe a beer and some Chet will fix it all for now.

    -_-

  8. I hear Chick Corea and I think "Spain", then I think Elektrik Band, then I think pre-Columbia post Airto RTF. I've seen him live a whole bunch of times, each with a different band, and they were some of the most amazing shows - Akoustic Band, Elektrik Band, Elektrik Band II, and the New Trio - all phenom!

  9. You cannot be serious!

totally NOT kidding, but thanks for the 'dis' :g

There's a lot of music other than Jazz that I listen to - prog stuff, gospel, sarah maclachlan type stuff, classic rock - hey if it's good and well done/played, it's worth a shot.

People ask me what type of music I like - I say "the good kind" and leave it* at that :)

    * a lil' YES joke

  10. I was finally able to pick up the 3 new YES reissues - Tormato, Drama, and 90125 - 3 of my fave YES projects. I got in to the band around BIG GENERATOR so my first love are these albums that come at the end of the 70's start of the 80's. I know for some diehard YES fans, these might not be their first or second choices, but I love this stuff.

I'm particulary pscyched for DRAMA - it gets such a bum rap because Jon Anderson isn't on it. I think that's what makes it stand out - YES were able to continue sans Anderson (not as sucessful as say Van Halen after DLR, but I digress). Of course, he was back in a couple of years with 90125. The tunes have never sounded better, and the bonus tracks give a look into the creative process (3 of them feature Anderson).

I haven't gotten to hear the other 2, but from the way DRAMA sounds, this is gonna be the best 30 bucks I've spent in a while :)

    Any thoughts?
