recently higher prices reflect drop in dollar against Euro and Yen. if the trend continues....forgettaboutit!
I am paid in Euros, and I tried to get some of these records, but I was outbidded by a guy whose nickname was rudy_van_gelder, living in US, so your theory has some holes.
That's okay; the records have holes as well...
So has my wallett...

just as tourism increases in Europe when the dollars strengthens, lps priced in dollars draw more foreign bidders when the dollars drops, cause they are getting more back for the buck, (or should I say yen). Great majority of high bids coming from overseas.
It's an economical law and I agree, but I think that collecting rare jazz records has more to do with psychiatry.
If you have done a survey on a representative sample of recent bidders I have no objections.

It certainly is no Dynaflex.
I have some RCA Dynaflexes of Lou Reed and they still sound far far far better then cd.

Too much noise, in the East Village?
I know some of the board members including myself have made their way down to E. 7th Street and Avenue C to enjoy a fine beer along with some great Bavarian grub.
I'm just finding out that the building owners are attemting to evict the restaurant because of the noise.
The place has never been anything but fun. I hate to see an independent get shut down whether it be for increased rent or cry baby neighbors.
For those interested there is an online petition you can sign to help try and stop this.
Scroll down the page.
I don't know this particular case, so I can't say anything about it, but...
I presume you never lived in a flat over a noisy place. My flat is just above a Bingo Hall, (it was a Cinema Theater when I bought the flat) where drunk people used to finish their evening at three a.m. singing outside the hall, breaking beer's bottle and such amenities.
This is one of the case I missed your Constitution, I am referring to that part about the right to carry firearms.
On the other hand I don't miss your Constitution, because now I would be in a death row for multiple murders.
At the end of the story the police closed the hall. The company who used to run the Bingo breaked down. I just bought a new flat, hoping to sell this one quickly before someone else rent the hall.

Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall
(Mosaic Records)
How is it?
I think it sounds really good, but I'll be returning it.
Side 2 has a bunch of tiny scratches that sound throughout.
Why Mosaic used Classic's 200 gram proccess with it's widely known lack of QC
baffles me.
I asked for a replacement for the same problem, got a better copy, although not really perfect. As usual with Mosaic it didn't cost me a penny
Agreed on Classic, I think that 180 grams records of Analogue Production or Sundazed are better. Actually Classic Records will not get money from me in the future.
BTW it sounds OK, and the music itself is
I could go on with smilies for ages, but Jim said they slowering the server

I am sorry but I have to post at least 300 stupid things, I mean 'more stupid' then the previous one, to achieve my status of GROOVE MERCHANT again.
-
Where is my Avatar? It disappeared this morning.
And why am I back a 'supa groover'? I gained a GROOVE MERCHANT with honor on the battlefield, exactly here http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...groove+merchant

Oh Yes, the huge hate and nastiness aginst Kenny G and Norah Jones manifested in this forum, almost make me buy at least one cd of them, just investigate.
Hey, I said 'almost'.

Don't forget the Mosaic set, great mono sound.
here you have a 'and still going.. http://cgi.ebay.com/Charles-Mingus-on-Mosa...1QQcmdZViewItem

It's from 10/11/69
That's a good explanation because they didn't sing 'Helter Skelter'
-
I bet Charles Manson watched it. Can you provide the exact broadcasting date? I guess it's before the 9th of August 1969.

Let us all bow our heads and hope that porcy62 hasn't suffered too much by reading this thread.
Actually it will cost me another 45 min with my analyst

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this enables one to burn LPs to CDR. I would find this useful because I have material on vinyl that I'd like to hear in my iPod.
This is probably the only use of this stuff: transform a great analog sound in a compressed digital format in a cheap way. Anyway I wouldn't spin any of my rare LPs on that 'TT'. The poor Roy Du Nann should turn in it's grave at this very moment.

This is probably the only use of this stuff: transform a great analog sound in a compressed digital format in a cheap way. Anyway I wouldn't spin any of my rare LPs on that 'TT' more than once. The poor Roy Du Nann should turn in it's grave at this very moment.
-
Why should you need such awful thing, (as vinyl fetichist I can't even call it a TT
) ?
I mean: if you want an analog sound you have to get some decent stuff, that doesn't always mean KK$$, if you want to record your LP on a cd-r you still need a serious stuff, plus some decent editing software, otherwise you can buy a cd.
And if the purpose is to listen to records through a computer you need a good phsychiatrist.
Sincerly I found it totally useless.

Italy will win the World Cup, according to the Union des Banques Suisses analysts.
Wanna bet??
Who Will Win the World Cup 2006? UBS Analysts Predict the World Champion
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2006--The analysts at UBS Wealth Management Research have caught World Cup fever, and have made some interesting predictions about how this year's soccer World Cup will pan out.
Based on a simulation, the analysts have determined that Italy will win. The simulation was carried out using scientific methods comparable to those used by experts to make economic and financial-market forecasts. The model developed by analysts was then tested for reliability by applying it to past football World Cup and European tournaments, with remarkably precise results: the simulation correctly predicted 89 percent of all of the semi-final winners of the previous nine World Cups.
The simulation
According to the UBS simulation, further results will be as follows: Germany will lose to Argentina in the 3rd round and Italy will beat France at the same stage. They will be closely followed by the Netherlands, who will send England home. In the fourth pairing, the Brazilians will dominate the Spaniards. The semi-finals will then be down to the favorites: the Netherlands will draw the short straw against the Brazilians, the Italians will beat Argentina. In the final, the Brazilians will be forced to accept the fact that the Italians are the better team in this tournament.
Many influencing factors
Along with "football fever", the team around UBS Wealth Management Chief Economist Klaus Wellershoff was interested to find out what variables are important in predicting World Cup success. In doing so, they discovered that many things that appear to be obvious are, in fact, not crucial to winning the World Cup. An example of this would be the size of a country's population, which is often incorrectly correlated to the amount of potential athletic talent. The FIFA rankings, which list the top national soccer teams, also prove to be of limited use when it comes to making a prediction: the FIFA list compiles the sporting success of the individual teams but assigns equal value to all wins, no matter how strong the opponent.
Reality wins
The creation of the World Cup prediction was an intellectual change of pace for the UBS analysts, but it also delivered additional insights. The exercise, for example, gave the experts the opportunity to demonstrate the flexibility of their methods outside their typical parameters.
Of course, there are also limits. According to the model, Greece would never have become European champion in 2004. Sports do still follow their own rules - and are more attractive than any simulation.
I like the final paragraph from the ever-cautious Swiss...
According the final paragraph, and considering the forecast polls before the italian election, I'll bet Ghana.

I post it in the Artists Thread because he was an Artists in photography.

Well Brownie, think how strange could be the life. You started several decades ago as jazz fan and now you are in the same league of Guggenheim and Baron Thyssen

My suspects are some of the nazi scientists captured by the Allies after the WWII, someone who thought that the german musical culture should have had perished in the Third Reich Goetterdammerung.

Until now I use Auctionstealer, its Priority Service allow a bid 3 seconds before the end of auction, and I was pretty satisfied until now, I pay them for the Priority Service but I think I spared some money on auctions, so it's a convenient sniper. Lately I won some items whose price was raised by last second bid. Do you know if there are more efficient snipers, I mean 'last second sniper', or you can place a bid in the last second only if you are a Billy The Kid of the keyboard?
