  1. Chenier was a new name to me until last weekend, when I picked up at a small record fair, the "Very best of" LP on Arhoolie from '68. Great music indeed , swings like mad. Glad you discovered Clifton Chenier.

Charlie Parker: Bird at the Roost Volume Three (Savoy Jazz) Hadn't listened to this in some time and had forgotten that Phil Schaap, who's listed as producer and also wrote the liner notes, managed to fill up the back (and part of the front) of the record jacket without writing anything about the music contained within. I checked Volumes one and two out of curiosity, and each of them is the same deal. It's hard to conceive of someone doing that, but I guess Phil's a different kind of cat and always has been.
