  2. Red Records, Italy, may 1983. Things get a lot more interesting with Tracanna in the mix. I think I saw Tracanna mentioned on the Org Board before, but this is my first exposure to his playing.
  3. D'Andrea (p), Helias (b), Altschul (d). Red Records. 1983. Some Pullen-esque playing from D'Andrea, by way of early Bill Evans.

  5. The jacket is only subdued in comparison with the pants.

  7. Yes, thanks for the photos. The Curson is the only one I don't have from the DMG issues, so I can't compare with what I have at home but none of the DMG issues have a pseudo-OBI, although the "Rufus" CD ® does have some Japanese lettering at bottom of back cover, and statement that it was made by Nippon Phonograph. This is obviously a copy of a statement. The DMG CDs have different graphics to those from Jazz Messengers. My hunch is that all of the above, including Jazz Messengers, are from the 1990 Japan Nippon Phonogram CDs release of the Fontana titles.
  8. I will try for the bank shot: Philadelphia on the 30th and Baltimore on the 31st. And then the 12th at the Vision Festival. BTW, Charles gayle is the Honoree at this year's Vision Festival.

  10. Any chance you could post a picture of the CD and the case?

  12. I've only been there once, when I was in the L.A. area on business. I didn't have as much time as one needs to get through the whole place. I could only buy as much as I could fit into my carry-on bag, so I was limited in that regard. Would love to go back sometime. I recall that after I left Amoeba, I drove down to Pink's Hot Dogs, not far away, and had some hot dogs Hollywood-style. Quite good, and a cool place for people-watching.

  14. This is the same album as "Booker Little and Friend" (the original title), both are on Bethlehem. Can anyone explain why the album was released under two titles? Seems both titles were used almost interchangeably.
  15. Another one of those great Braxton Quartets. This one, "Performance for Quartet," live at Willisau, September 1, 1979. Braxton alto, Bb soprano and Eb soprano saxophones, cl, contrabass cl), Ray Anderson (tb, alto tb, little instruments), John Lindberg (b), Thurman Barker (perc, xylophone, gongs).
  16. Whoever it was, I hope they are the kind of person who would allow them to be catalogued or put on line for study. I noted there was correspondence in some of the lots; that could be of historical interest, along with BN business records.
  17. These guys turn up whenever you want the other ICP. A Liberty pressing!

  20. CREATIVE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, VOL. II - Muse LP. Leroy Jenkins, Anthony Braxton, Leo Smith, Muhal Richard Abrams, Richard Davis, Steve McCall. Ornette Coleman "recording supervisor." 9 May 1970, Washington Square Methodist Church. CCC- two great albums.
  21. Heres the page I was looking at: http://www.saravah.fr/steve-lacy/scratching-the-seventies-dreams,1082 Note the "Votre panier" box to the lower right. Click on that and it opens a PayPal window for 45 euro. Looks like it is for 3 CD. The 15 euro option seems to open up a download window, DLs available from several sites. I am not at all sure of any of this, just thought I'd point it out. Great set of music, any new source would be welcome.
  22. That would be very cool if it works. I took a look at the site. I found the download option at $15 Euro, and what looks like the 3 CD option at 45Euro plus 4 Euro shipping, if my basic French reading ability can be relied on (iffy). So not sure what to think. I'm surprised at all that they are still vending.
