    G.R. jams?

    OOPS.... Grand Rapids/West Michigan.
  2. I'll be in the (Grand Rapids) area for a couple of months (from Europe), and 'am looking for any jam sessions or musicians interested in getting together. Me: drums/vibes (no vibes in town), play mostly modern/free jazz, also bop and straight ahead.
  3. If you have a midi sequencer/software, you could just input the rhythms you want on different tracks.
  4. Have a go at Elvin Jones' 'groove' on India.
  5. There is a very good method book: "4-Way Cooridination" by Marvin Dahlgran. Still published. You might also ask on the drumcenter forum. (http://www.drumcenterforum.com/)
  6. Anyone have the changes for Connie's Blues? I can't remember, don't have recording, and don't want to use a standard if it's not right.
  7. Drummer, lives mostly in Europe, in G.R./W. Mich. for a few months, looking for bop/straight ahead, etc... players to jam with, keep in shape, meet new players. mlm
  8. Anyone know who will be playing at the Berlin Jazzfest this year? The website (http://www.berlinerfestspiele.de/jazzfest/index.html) only mentions a couple of people and that info will be available sometime.
  9. I'm a drummer/percussionist/vibist, and Burton is a life long favorite (as is Haynes). What I like about the release; just about everything, except the mix. The vibes and drums sound great, but the other inst., especially the piano, seem to be confined too much to one channel and lacking depth. Great performances though. One of my most listened to CDs, along with Coletrane's Impressions (Elvin Jones!) I also like the 60s stuff like Duster and Lofty Fake Anagram, and the live stuff from Alone at Last, esp. 'Sunset Bell'.
  10. One of my favorites; Burton, Corea, Haynes, Holland, Methany Any other fans?
