Christiern Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 And who do you suppose this baby is? How old were you when that was taken? Let's just say that it was long before I graduated from the Michael Jackson Institute of Enlightenment. But let's see if anyone can come up with a correct answer. After all, there is a very good clue below the photo. Quote

I just checked, and she wasn't from Tennessee. Since Bessie was, I'll change my guess to Bessie Smith. Edited December 12, 2004 by John B Quote
Christiern Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 Lil was born in Memphis, Bessie in Chattanooga--you were right the first time. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 Oh. My. God. Yeah, I know. Her shirt says it all, doesn't it? She is going to be a spoiled little monkey. Quote
rachel Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 It's those eyes! They are heartbreakers! Just wait until she gets to be about 4 and has these intense conversations with you. Here's one I had today with Avatar Jennifer (who has been temporarily replaced by Avatar Rocky the superdog) Jennifer (in very serious tone) : Ra-Ra! I have four things to say to you! Me: OK... tell me what's on your mind. Jennifer: Well....#1) I love you, and #2) I like you, too and #3) when I go to Michigan to see grandma, you are in my heart ( ) and #4) you need to wear jingle bell bows in your hair because it's messy today. I will show you how. Straight shooters, those 4 year olds... Be prepared for hair stuff, tons of hair stuff Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Ha! That's quite the conversation! Last night we went out to visit some friends up from Arizona and their 5 1/2 month old. Zora was dressed thusly: Quote

Straight shooters, those 4 year olds... Be prepared for hair stuff, tons of hair stuff  Speaking of uninhibited comments by our children, I still remember this one, made by my daughter in a furniture store to a total stranger. We were looking at a rocking chair and my daughter said to a woman standing near us: "We have a rocking chair at home, but my mom's hips are too wide to sit in it." The woman sizes me up, looks at the rocking chair with a puzzled look. I'm kind of scrawny. Then I realized what my daughter [about three at the time] meant. She meant that I was too big to fit into HER rocking chair, one of those little kid-sized ones. By then the woman had wandered off. All day I felt fat. And speaking of hair. Same daughter. We're sitting on the bus. My little one, at about three again, sitting on my lap, facing the back, looking at the woman behind us. My daughter smiles. The woman smiles back at her. My daughter, commenting on the woman's amazing, towering, beehive hairdo, "Hi. Is that your real hair?" I was trapped. I couldn't pretend that I had no idea who this tactless child was. Little kids say what they are thinking. Edited December 16, 2004 by patricia Quote
Noj Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Mom had me in the sitting in the shopping cart at the market one day, so I must have been like 3 or 4. An obese woman was nearby and I took the opportunity to direct her to the cottage cheese. Mom was beet red with embarassment. True story. Quote

Looks like he's already seriously planning how to live up to his impressive moniker! How about it! Great name for a very handsome boy! Here's something to add to the 'ohmigod did this child just say this!' list. Jennifer and dad attending Pacers game. Jennifer standing on her seat and yelling at top decibel to the ref, "I'm going to eat you up and poop you out!" While dad was chiding little Jennifer that this isn't a nice thing to say, silently he was marveling at the wonders of the gene pool. Quote
