Joe Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 (edited) http://www.palmpictures.com/videos/howtodrawabunny.html Fascinating film about the life and work -- the 2 are virtually inseparable -- of visual and performance artist Ray Johnson, a man who definitely went his own way. Worth seeing for a number of reasons, but board members here might want to se it most as the film's "score" is supplied by Max Roach. ("additional music by Thurston Moore", however...). Said "score" is really just a continuous drum solo, quite subdued, but very effective in concert with the filmmakers' (John Walter, Andrew Moore, others) visuals. Black Moutain School-Fu. Fluxus-Fu. Violent reprisals against cardboard cartons and blackboards. Postal-fu. No breasts. Gratutious portraiture. Joe Bob sez check it out. Edited June 10, 2004 by Joe Quote
ghost of miles Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Haven't seen the film (will try to, upon your rec), but I must say that's one of the more eyecatching thread titles I've seen around these parts in awhile! Quote
alankin Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 They're showing the film in Philadelphia; there will be several showings the week of 6/21. (I'd like to see it, but I might have too many conflicts [including David Murray & the Gwo-Ka Masters].) Quote
