sheldonm Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 I'm thinking of parting with my Miles Plugged Nickel and Tina Brooks Mosaid LP sets and a CD set of Blue Mitchell. The LP sets have never been played, include the book and box and are in mint condition. The Mitchell cd set has been played but is in great shape. I'm not sure what the value is as it's rare that I sell anything like this. Any thoughts on the value??? Thanks, Mark Quote
Dmitry Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Mark, do an ebay completed items search. That should give you an idea of the value. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Then divide by ten and give me a call on that Tina set! Quote
sheldonm Posted June 15, 2004 Author Report Posted June 15, 2004 I saw a Miles set with a "buy now price of $349.00 on it but didn't see a Tina Brooks. I'm not looking to retire off of these, just want to get a fair price for them. Mark Quote

Often these are inflated and considerably higher than the reserve price. They are most often included under the mindset that "if someone is crazy enough to do it....then let 'em." Quote
Dmitry Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Mark, you may be disappointed, but either of these 2 LP sets is not what you would call a heirloom. I haven't checked ebay in a few weeks, but if my memory serves me right the Brooks rarely goes above a hundred dollars, perhaps $120 or so. It has been out of print for a while, but the price on this set has been surprisingly low for at least a couple of years. Miles usually sells in the $150 range, and rarely if ever goes above $200. The perpetual availability of its cd counterpart no doubt plays a role. I have a feeling it will appreciate in value with time, moreso than the Brooks. My advice is, if you are not strapped for cash, hold on to both of them for another couple of years. If you just want to unload them, it's your call. Quote
wolff Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Crap, I wish I was able to do the Plugged Nickel now(want LP's in trade? ). I'm sure we could have worked someting out. Around $200 is what would be a fair price. I recall seeing it go for less, but $200 seems about right. The Brooks is usually around $75-$110. Quote

I didn't buy them as an investment but experienced turntable issues that have never been resolved, so I never played them. Not strapped for cash either, so may hold on to them if there isn't much interest here. I'm bought many things off Ebay but have never attempted to sell anything. Thanks to all for your input, Mark Quote
