medjuck Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 There's also the great Elllington Soundie with the Lindy Hoppers dancing to Cottontail. Quote
Nutty Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 Speaking of video resources, you've GOT to show your class Jammin' the Blues... Quote
paul secor Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 Congrats! I hope that your students realize how lucky they are. Wish I were one of them. The best thing that can happen is that you'll learn from teaching the courses. Quote
makpjazz57 Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 Sounds like fun! Will you be including in your classes, information on both drummer Harold Jones and the late bassist Andy Simpkins? Both were born/raised in Richmond, Indiana. Marla Quote
ghost of miles Posted April 17, 2005 Author Report Posted April 17, 2005 (edited) There's also the great Elllington Soundie with theĀ Lindy Hoppers dancing to Cottontail. Thanks for reminding me! I think I have that on the Ellington Centennial CD/DVD that came out last year. I was thinking about showing "Jam Session" (aka "C Jam Blues"), but I might show "Cottontail" instead as a result of your prompt. Edited April 17, 2005 by ghost of miles Quote

Marla Marla, I'll definitely mention them in the series, and possibly in the class as well. I've had an e-mail exchange with Dan Gould about Simpkins' Hoosier roots... the series/class may be pushed back to next April. Since taking these projects on, I've ended up doing two weekly programs at WFIU in addition to my fulltime library job... everything's gotten a bit crazy in the past nine months! Quote
