jazz at 7 1/2 ips

Anyone listen to jazz on a reel to reel? I picked up some jazz tapes but don't have a 7 1/2 spped machine. How does the music sound coming off tape compared to lps?

Looking foward to listening to Kind of Blue on tape.

I'm gaining some experience in this area due to a project I've taken on for a board member. But its hard to judge because the deck is hooked up to a PC rather than decent stereo speakers.

But I can tell you that professional quality reels (like, for broadcast) record at 15 ips, so anything recorded at 7 or 3 3/4 isn't going to sound as good as it could. Its too bad reels for the home market had the lower speeds.
