mjzee Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 I don't listen much to pop/rock anymore, but I do have a soft spot for Todd. I find it amazing that the first 3 sides of Something/Anything were entirely played by him. He wrote some great power pop songs - most of Something/Anything qualifies as classic. "The Ballad of Todd" also has great tracks, such as Be Nice To Me and Bleeding. I was at the show depicted on the back cover of "Todd" (Schaefer Music Festival in Central Park 1974). The concept of Faithful is truly loony - I don't know why he did it, either, except to say he could. That 3-sided set called "Utopia" had some nice stuff on it, too.Oh yeah...this is a pretty cheap way to get 5 good albums of his... $20.45 from an Amazon reseller: Amazon Quote
Peter Johnson Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Going to see him perform "Todd Rundgren's Utopia" live at the Highline in NYC in January--stoked! Quote
Peter Johnson Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Hey Rolf--you still can! Come over to Annapolis--Ram's Head--on 6/29. We'll be there! (Of course, it happens to be the same week as Induction, but there are still some rooms to be had, if you act fast!). Never seen him 'live'...wish I had. My top Todd tunes: 1) International Feel (A Wizard..) 2) Sometimes I Don't Know What to Feel (A Wizard..) 3) Last of the New Wave Riders (Adventures in Utopia) 4) Is it My Name (A Wizard...) 5) I Saw the Light (Something/Anything) 6) The Very Last Time (Adventures in Utopia) 7) Jealousy (RA) 8) Freedom Fighters (Rundgren's Utopia) Quote
