Matthew Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 So, shoot me, I have zero Beatles in my collection. However, I've come into some extra money and I want to get the Beatles lps. So, I'm wondering if buying the Beatles BC-13 Box set off Ebay is the best way to go for that route. Anyone have this set, and how does it sound? Or should I get the recently issued lps? Any Beatles fan out there with an opinion? Quote
Clunky Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 (edited) sorry not familiar with that box. I did note a few weeks ago that Beatles vinyl ( new) was marked on the back cover as being mastered from a digital source which seems pretty pointless. My Beatles vinyl is from late 70s/ early 80s pressings which are very variable, the white album is poor but With the Beatles and their debut album are great pressings. Best of all is my Revolver (mono, 4th pressing) , hardly rara avis but has great presense despite 40 plus years of regular play. Edited August 27, 2004 by Clunky Quote
AmirBagachelles Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Go for the MFSL set if you can find one. Amazing, stunning listening experiences. Worth every penny up to say $2000 for a really mint set. Quote
Matthew Posted August 31, 2004 Author Report Posted August 31, 2004 The advantage with the "Blue Box" is that is should be cheaper than the MSFL set, but I saw just yesterday on ebay and sealed BC-13 going for $720.00. Maybe I'll just concentrate on my Bob Dylan collection instead. Quote
