Guest ariceffron Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 how does it compare w/ mothership???? Quote
wolff Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 (edited) What, no uppercase? I lack the vocabulary/writing skills to do this well, but since I've been listening to my budget busting Mosaic set I feel obligated to give it a shot. Love and Peace: Larger group with 2 drummers, which is very interesting at times. Lots going on, very 'busy' music. Very good free improv. Mothership: Quartet. Funkier, but with many moments of freedom. Much mellower with a sparseness I enjoy. Top notch tension and release at times. I love the sounds he creates on his organ on this one. Very unique and hypnotic. Meanders or looses some direction on a few songs. All in all, OLAP is probably a better album in absolute terms, but I like Mothership more, as it fits my tastes. I'll keep my day job. Edited September 6, 2004 by wolff Quote

Big Al Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 OLAP didn't make much of an impression on me. It doesn't compare to MS, which could've easily been referred to as Unity, The Sequel. Quote
ralphie_boy Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Wolf nailed it in terms of a comparison. I'm not sure which one I prefer though, as they are very different. Quote
