Bluesnik Posted September 21, 2004 Report Posted September 21, 2004 Is the last crop of Chet Baker Pacific Jazz titles being reissued in Europe? And if so, will they be copy protected? Does anybody know anything about that? From what I have been able to find out it looks like just the Prince of Cool boxset has an official street date, at least in Germany, though I assume the other titles will eventually be released in the EU too, only a little bit later. And any ideas about how they might compare sonically to the TOCJs (I'm not sure all were SBJC) released some years back? Quote
Claude Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 All recent european EMI jazz CDs have been copyprotected, so I guess the Chet titles will be too. They are currently on sale at CD Universe for $8.5, so you might order them there, it won't be very expensive (10-12 Euro/CD, depending on customs fees) and you are certain to get normal CDs. Quote

Yeep! That's exactly the way I ordered my Chet Baker CD's (together with the brand new Miles box )!!! Quote

Yes, that's what I did two days ago, not long after posting. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a better solution. I was hoping they would be released here, where I always can get them very cheap, but I just didn't want to risk it in the end. The difference to the prerelease CD Universe price (+ shipping) is actually not very much, but this way I can buy them when I want. I finally ordered the Bopland set together with them. And now its the same game again with hte Conns. If it wasn't for CP I'd wait and get them later when they are price reduced. About the mastering, I guess it'll be McMaster again, like I think was the case with the Japanese reissues. Edited September 23, 2004 by Bluesnik Quote
Swinging Swede Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Yes, it's very nice to have CD Universe in these times. Quote
wolff Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 USA sends EU non-copy protected CD's. EU sends USA public domain titles. Something ain't right!! Quote
Bluerein Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 They will come out in the EU in october (just as the box). Cheers, Reinier Quote
