GA Russell Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 I have a Joe Locke channel on Pandora. Really enjoy it. Quote
Free For All Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Nice concept for a concert. And what a great band! Keezer had to sub out on the last day, eh? I've not heard Kenny Washington sing, although I'm very aware of his music collection & his knowledge of the music. And, of course, he's an excellent musician. Where's he coming from as a singer, Tom, if I may ask? Morricone, Mancini and Mandel....three excellent Ms for sure! Quote
marcello Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) Free, it not that Kenny Washington. This Kenny Washington is from the Bay Area and is really a extraordinary singer. He's really a musician. The best male singer around, bar none. I shit you not. He's only about 4' 11" tall, but when he sings, he's the Matterhorn! Keezer has a concert in Miami on Sunday, so Robert Rodriguez, who's in Joe's regular touring group, will play. Another great player. It really a "Rolls Royce" group! marcello Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 I have a Joe Locke channel on Pandora. Really enjoy it. Pandora is so s l o w to add new music submissions! I sent them music months ago to add. They do add another dimension to listening to music that I think is worthwhile, though. Quote
marcello Posted February 10, 2009 Author Report Posted February 10, 2009 Bumping this up for this week: This week at Dizzy's I'll be there for a few days if anyone wants to meet and hear the real Kenny Washington! Quote
MartyJazz Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 (edited) I caught the Joe Locke-Geoff Keezer Quartet in concert at Nova Univ in Davie, Florida back in May '07. Just great! Gary Burton, now a Ft. Lauderdale resident, was in the audience. Locke is well worth seeing - a fabulous vibrophonist. Edited February 10, 2009 by MartyJazz Quote
aparxa Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 I caught a Joe Locke-Harry Allen gig last August at Dizzy's. Maybe too entertainering to my taste, but the guy plays great. And you can't go wrong with Mraz in the band! Quote
marcello Posted February 15, 2009 Author Report Posted February 15, 2009 I took this photo backstage, of Kenny Washington last Tuesday at Dizzy's: Quote
