DTMX Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 Maybe this will spur an interest in Herbie Hancock's Fat Albert Rotunda. Quote

Aggie87 Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 I caught this movie with my kids today at the local discount house. Though my expectations were kinda low, it was actually a cute kids flick, considering most of its target audience has probably never seen the original cartoons. Well, I've never seen them here on our cable system, at any rate. Anyway, towards the end of the movie, when "real life" Fat Albert was getting ready to return to cartoonland, there is a nice jazz reference. On the wall behind him in the house they're in is a framed print of the Blue Train cover! Very noticeable, and very intended to be seen. Made my day! I know of Cosby's love of jazz and his putting jazz artists on his old 80's show. Heck, I even have his cd "Where You Lay Your Head", which has some pretty big names on it. Always glad when someone who's famous for non-jazz reasons/accomplishments pushes jazz, like Spielberg did with Benny Golson... Quote
JSngry Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 Kenan Thompson is a comedic talent to keep an eye on, and has been ever since his days on Nickolodeon's "All That". His partner from that show (and for a while afterwards), Kel Mitchell is equally gifted. Wonder what he's up to these days? Quote
robviti Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 Is nothing sacred? for someone like me who remembers fat albert from recordings of cosby's stand-up, the cartoon show is nothing sacred. Quote
