pryan Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 (edited) I ordered a Dexter Gordon photograph over a month ago and it hasn't arrived yet, even though Mosaic has assured me that it was shipped a long time ago . Also, I ordered a Hank Mobley set (for Santa to give me) and it hasn't arrived; it's been over two weeks. Any other Canadian customers having similar problems receiving stuff from Mosaic, or getting stuff across the border in general. I think I'm going to contact Mosaic again today to see what I should do. I really don't want to go through the customs bureaucracy, that's a major pain in the ass. John Tapscott Posted November 24, 2004 Report Posted November 24, 2004 (edited) Pryan: I know it's hard to be patient when you're waiting for something, especially from Mosaic, but my experience is that everything coming from the US to Canada is WAY slower than usual these days. I think it's getting hung up in Canadian customs. I believe Customs officers are on some kind of work-to-rule or slowdown over $$$$$ (what else?) Of course, it could also be a bit of Canadian retaliation over mad cow and softwood and who knows what else. Some people are kind of hoping Dubya gets slowed up or even turned back at the border when he comes to visit at the end of the month! The good news is that while things have been greatly slowed up they DO arrive eventually. I think you'll be able to celebrate Christmas with the Mobley set. Happy listening. robert h. Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 If Mosaic says it shipped - IT SHIPPED. No point in bugging them. If I pay for standard shipping I know there's zero the shipper can do or tell me, if I pay the big bucks for courier, I can find out for myself. For the last two months, a progressively deteriorating situation has existed at the Vancouver customs agency, Canada Post's website acknowledges delays of over a month in receiving stuff due to the huge backlog at this screwed up facility. No doubt that is where the problem is. Quote
pryan Posted November 25, 2004 Author Report Posted November 25, 2004 Thanks for the responses, guys. I didn't bother phoning Mosaic and I probably won't unless it takes a really long time. That's pretty dumb about the border thing; two wrongs do not make a right. It just makes Canadian officials look like children, IMO. I kinda hope W. does get turned away at the border; we already have enough moronic politicians up here. Quote
pryan Posted November 28, 2004 Author Report Posted November 28, 2004 The Mobley set came this a.m. The Dexter photo, however, has yet to arrive. Quote
pryan Posted November 28, 2004 Author Report Posted November 28, 2004 (edited) Gotta wait 'till X-MAS to dig into the Mobley set. I'm actually listening to some clips from the Mosaic site just to whet my appetite. I'm actually drooling right now. Edited November 28, 2004 by pryan Quote
porcy62 Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 (edited) This is definitely out of topic, but it's a story about shipping from and to Canada. I visited Canada, the Pacific coast up to Yukon and the Rocky Mountains parks, three years ago with my family. We flight to Vancouver from Rome and Air Canada lost one luggage. My son leaved a small bag in the RV we rented in Calgary, so when we were back in Rome I phoned to the RV rent company and they sent our bag, this bag never arrived. A week ago I saw a Parlan Mosaic LP set on Ebay, I really wanted it, it had a BIN price reasonable, but..it was in Canada. I passed BTW I loved my holidays in Canada!! Really!
