Call Cobbs Jr. was Albert Ayler's pianist. Do you know what has he done in his life after Ayler's death??? Is he still with us? I tried to find out but it seems that not much information about him on the net.

Bentsy, the book that is inside the 'Holy Ghost' box says that Cobbs 'died shortly after Ayler, from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident'.

Cobbs whom I had the privilege to meet was a very nice and quiet man.

He died on September 21, 1971 in New York.

Cobbs also plays on several other Ayler albums, including:

- Swing Low Sweet Spiritual (also known as 'Goin' Home'),

- on one track - 'Angels' - of the ESP 'Spirits Rejoice' session,

- the Nuits de la Fondation Maeght concert albums.

also, possibly, one track on the Complete Live in the Village (or whatever it's called) dbl CD on Impulse! Isn't it Cal, with one "l"?

I love the Going Home/Spirituals album and think it might have done for albert what Plays Elington did for Monk. Would really like to see it reissued along with the originals from the same session(s)...2 LPs would do it I think.
