ASNL77 Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 I'm thinking of buying the Joe Pass mosaic set. What do you think of it? It would be my Xmas present so I don't want to go wrong! Quote
Craig23 Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 (edited) Here is a recent (yet short) thread on the set. I really like the set for the first disc alone. Edited December 12, 2004 by Craig23 Quote
DMP Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 One of my favorite "Mosaic's." Of course, "Catch Me" and "For Django" are musts, but I enjoy it for the Les McCann sessions, which would probably never have seen the light of reissue day if not for this set. (The "Soul Hits" album, with material like "Back at the Chicken Shack," is one of those LP's that completely slipped under the radar screen at the time of its release.) And the "live" "Donte's" session has lots of extra material. Like many of the "Mosaic" boxes, it's probably best to listen to it a little at a time, but, if you like jazz guitar, what's not to like? Ed S Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 I like this set a lot. The movie themes session is a little weak IMO, but the rest is very nice. I love the version of Django's Manoir De Mes Reves. Quote
