Sundog Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 I've decided to get Crescent... Smart move. Quote
montg Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Black Saint is awesome--crank it up and step back...it comes out blazing, and never looks back. Quote
scottb Posted January 15, 2005 Author Report Posted January 15, 2005 (edited) $94 -28 (Black Saint, Crescent) ______ $66 I think I'll save the balance for later this summer, with 12 new RVGs between now and April, these orders, and a disc a month from yourmusic.com, I think I'll have plenty to listen to! Thanks for the help! (edited for some bad math!) Edited January 15, 2005 by scottb Quote
frank m Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Attention FYGGES,BOTH MOULDY AND OTHERWISE! I just found a source for jazz artists of the 70's not otherwise available, either OOP or from transcriptions of live concerts. Hackett,Butterfield, Wild Bill, McGarity, Wellstood,Don Ewell and some Manassas Jazz Fest concerts, as well as some Fat Cat Records I've been hunting for years. I got my first shipment of cd's apparently burned from the vinyls. My appraisal of the quality is that they're pretty good in the main, judging by what I've heard of them so far, with occasional scratches depending, I guess, on the state of the original vinyls. But some of the music is terrific, particularly one cd of Don Ewell and Jack Mayheu that has rapidly become one of my favorites. He charges 7.50 Per cd plus shipping. He has a list available on the net and his website is www.cslate3@earthlink.net I've found him to be quite reliable although a bit slow in shipping. Quote
scottb Posted February 1, 2005 Author Report Posted February 1, 2005 Got my package form deepdiscountcds.com today. BLACK SAINT and CRESCENT Whoa baby! The Coltrane is not totally unexpected as I have several other of his Impulse dates but BLACK SAINT is really a great work. I'm going to enjoy getting inside this one. Thanks for the recs on both of these. This has got me excited to see what else Impulse has to offer as well as additional Mingus. Perhaps that Passions of a Man boxed set is not such a bad idea.
