Guest ariceffron Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 ps-- what determines weather WATER can reissue a certain BN cd or not..... Quote
scottb Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 (edited) I don't know the ins and outs of the industry, but I believe Blue Note can license another label, in this case WATER, to release music that they own the rights to. I am sure Blue Note did not sell the rights to the music, probably more of a lease for a period of time or number of issues. Water has been releasing several Blue Note titles mainly form the 70s. Rare Groove type stuff. Edited February 24, 2005 by scottb Quote
Guest ariceffron Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 yea all the titles bn is too cheap to put out on their own. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Water has been doing a wonderful job with the material they lease from BN (and other labels). From Blue Note leased material, I can heartily recommend the two Eddie Gale cds! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 From Blue Note leased material, I can heartily recommend the two Eddie Gale cds! Amen to that!!! Never thought we'd see these on CD, let alone so lovingly done in terms of the packaging and notes. Now if only Water would release the two Kenny Cox BN's from that same time period. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Not to mention lovingly remastered sound; the Water Gale sounds so much better than the Blue Note France issue of Black Rythmn Happenin's . . . ! Quote
