AfricaBrass Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 If you grew up in LA, you know this guy. He was a real character. I don't know if the world was a better place with or without him, but this guy brought a young AfricaBrass a lot of laughs. I used to smoke a LOT (seriously) and I loved to watch him ranting and raving about whatever. I'm sure he's on the other side; smoking a cigar, wearing three pairs of glasses at the same time, and yelling at someone. I just can't imagine a world without Wally George AND Gene Scott. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...e_us/obit_scott Quote
Jazzmoose Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 Hey, if anything can make you believe in a higher power, it was Gene Scott. And I do mean higher... Nothing would cheer me up when I was down like listening to this guy, particularly when he was being extremely....uh...'logical' in an explanation! Quote

Soul Stream Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 I haven't seen this guy in years. But I definately used to dig his funky, freaky, vibe. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted February 27, 2005 Author Report Posted February 27, 2005 I loved watching his shows in recent years (sober) and it would trip me out that he'd have some cool R&B playing while showing clips of his horses and his young lady friends... then he'd come back on and bitch about some church business. He was a real trip. Quote
JSngry Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Definitely one of the all-time greats, although all-time great whats, I haven't a clue. Quote

patricia Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 (edited) Oh, THAT Gene Scott!! My ex used to sit in the basement and watch this wild man and call me down there to hear his most outrageous pronouncements. We lived in central British Columbia at the time and had a sattelite dish, before they were fashionable. I'd love to be a fly on a cloud, right near the fabled Pearly Gates when Gene showed up. He was definitely a character. Edited February 28, 2005 by patricia Quote
