garthsj Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 Herewith the result of the second offering from the Leon Leavitt collection. Vinyl prices are going out of sight! http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...since=30&rdir=0 Quote
Peter Johnson Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 Holy S___! Of course, provenance, condition, u.s.w., but... This is exhibit "A" to my insurance policy!!! Quote
sidewinder Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 It looks as though porcy62 has picked up a few nice ones, including a 'Unity'. Bonus windfall? B-) Quote

B-) A lot of people spend larger sums for wrist watch, jewel, cars, boats, clothes. I have a cheap old Swatch at my wrist, the same ten years old car, no boats, a couple of jewel I bought in India more than 15 years ago, and my whole wardrobe could be inside a couple of big luggage. But I have a mint copy of "Unity". Quote

As high as some of those prices are, I sold a few of those LPs seven to 12 years ago at even higher prices, e.g., Wallington's CAFE BOHEMIA (Progressive), Sonny Clark's LEAPIN' AND LOPIN', etc. Then again there are quite a few LPs on that list that would not have commanded as much money a few years ago which is nice to know. Christiern Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 No wonder Leon made so many trips to my apartment, and no wonder he was so eager. Can't cry over spilled milk, however. Quote
MartyJazz Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 No wonder Leon made so many trips to my apartment, and no wonder he was so eager. Can't cry over spilled milk, however. Leon and Jack Brown who resides in your area, I'm sure. JB is very fair and nice to deal with. No complaints. Quote
Christiern Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 Leon was absolutely fair. I would only sell him an album if he also replaced it with a better (usually Japanese) pressing, which he always did. Quote
MartyJazz Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 Leon was absolutely fair. I would only sell him an album if he also replaced it with a better (usually Japanese) pressing, which he always did. No doubt. I have also dealt with Leon, although only by phone and mail. There was a mutual trust established and, as you state, he was quite fair and a pleasure to deal with. Quote
desertblues Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 On the other hand, I got three nice lps from this auction and all were below recent market value (one New Jazz lp a real bargain). The usual suspects were unable to overbid all of these records due to the large number offered, that's my analysis anyway. Good news for collectors that more auctions from Leavitt's estate are upcoming. Quote
