sjarrell Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 (edited) SOLD. Should I be trying to move the off topic portion of this to Miscellaneous? (And if so, how?) Edited March 20, 2005 by sjarrell Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 God help me, I'm finally getting OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLDDDD!! I can't remember the name of the character in your avatar! Shit! Shit! Shit!! I know he's the leader of the Inhumans, but I can't remember the name.... Quote
Free For All Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 Is it *Black Bolt* of The Inhumans? Quote
sjarrell Posted March 19, 2005 Author Report Posted March 19, 2005 (edited) Black Bolt indeed, from the mighty pencil of Jack "King" Kirby! Edit: Moose, I'm old too. I'm just the special sort of old that has a basement full of old funnybooks... Edited March 19, 2005 by sjarrell Quote
Free For All Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 (edited) Temporarily off topic (so what else is new? )..... As many have probably done, I gave away the comics I collected as a younger person. Man, do I regret that. I had (DC) Metal Men, Justice League, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Atom and (Marvel) Hulk, XMen, Fantastic Four, Spiderman, etc. And remember those special "team-up" issues, like Thing and Hulk or Atom and Flash etc. That was escapism that has never since been equalled for me. EDIT: Gave away my Hot Wheels and GI Joe stuff, too. What a schmuck! Edited March 19, 2005 by Free For All Quote
sjarrell Posted March 19, 2005 Author Report Posted March 19, 2005 My wife wishes I'd given mine away! But I'm hoping my son will be pleased... with the funnybooks AND the Hot Wheels! Quote
RDK Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 I gave all mine away when I was a kid. And I've spent the last thirty years buying them again! Quote

Comic shops weren't cut out to do business then, you know? Quote

Man with the Golden Arm Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Ya know I did not see this til the new subtitle. I still have all my old Tarzan Gold Keys as well as Torak Son Of Stone. Never bought the superhero types - there were no animals in them so I had to go the naturalist route. Now about the Hot Wheels. Still have my nice storage box of the old red-lines from when they first came out. I can still remember the day I bought my first: rode up to the toy store on the candy apple green schwinn w/ banana seat and laid my eyes upon a purple 'Beatnik Bandit' just like this one- B-) Found myself buying a half a dozen last week, the first in many, many years cause they are still so cool - these new Crooze line issues where the back end is stretched. And a buck each w/ tax! Quote
RDK Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Hey Vint, cool pic! I have a handful of carded "redlines" plus maybe a hundred or so loose ones. I collect hem on and off, along with other 60s boys toys. I'll try to post some pics when I get home. Ever heard of Major Matt Mason? Quote
sjarrell Posted March 22, 2005 Author Report Posted March 22, 2005 My MMM stuff rocked. Had a moon-rover thing with a bubble-car that it pulled along. Callisto the translucent-headed alien with the purple spaghetti-gun was my favorite thing of all, though. I still check those on eBay but have yet to pull the trigger. Too much jazz to buy, you know? Ever heard of Major Matt Mason? pic is not mine ... no carded toys in my stash. always ripped them open on the way home. now if i'd only been smart and bought up all the "pink / fuchsia" cars i'd be rich. have to look up MMM ? ... the sounds worthy! about time we open up a "toy" thread now, what with the likes of Biskup and urban vinyls and such being the craze.
